>cries after killing a mass murderer
>>217466714Tell that to Zod's snapped neck
>>217466714Its like, having more guilt is proof you are a better person for having done that necessary evil, but still be torn up about it. But you can adjust your level of guilt at will and there’s rarely any proving you needed to do any of that. Its a core ethos of American veterans who did sick shit
>>217466746its badly done
>>217466770Its done just as poorly in real life
>>217466714I don´t understand why Supermanfags got so upset at this one. They act is he killed him in cold blood or something when it was made clear he didn´t want to and only did it because there was nothing else he could do to save those people.
>>217466913If he kills in cold blood he should have killed him in cold blood in smallville, before detroying the city.also superman doesn't kill
>>217466913I think it's less the necksnap than him letting Zod pancake half the people in Metropolis with a gravity gun instead of working on saving people while the military took the world engine out.
>>217466913People pick up on the clear subtext that being a hero means being willing to commit cruel and bestial acts in the name of good, which, while arguably true, is clearly a conservative indulgence linking brutality to sacrifice and the political message of this film, which is cynically concerned primarily with the idea humanity is judgmental and pissy burden to serve as a savior
Couldn't save his father. Couldn't save Zod. He's repeating his trauma.
>>217466949Humanity is a* judgmental and pissy burden
Killing Zod was the final gesture of him rejecting the Kryptonian heritage that he'd been searching for his whole life.
>>217466948Would be very interesting to see an alternate reality where there was only one worldengine and the movie plays out like you said because on the one hand you're kind of right but onthe other hands one of the big complaints about superman movies for ages is that the stakes are always too low and reliant on a kryptonite gimmick to even the playing field so superman doesnt just roflstomp everyone and everything plus i kind of feel like there was overwhelming negative sentiment over MoS forstered by the media who were all dicksucking marvel superhard and were butthurt about the christian messaging in MoS so I think it wouldnt have changed much.
>>217467036Its not just the christian messaging, its that its specifically in this really sorrowful gethsemane-ass tone with all the weepy praying and worried brows and kids pondering their father dying to send a message. Which is all christian, for sure, but its both a flavor of christianity and its own secular weepy mood. Its grim and when people start telling that as ‘their’ story oftentimes they are just throwing a narcissistic pity party
>>217467126if I agree to call it weepy and selfpittying will you agree that the same bullshit for any other religion wouldnt have been received as negatively by the mainstream?
>>217467170Im not sure that it would. A cheerier christian story about the feeling of being saved or having a savior, would have played better than a dour islam-themed story about the necessity of jihad. Its the grim side of religion that doesn’t work here. Though yes christianity has its own associations some people dislike, that is a factor
>>217466978This guy knows what's up
>>217467218>Abdullah-man praying to allah for 15 minutes straight wouldnt have been hailed as the greatest superhero movie of all timeI dont trust you now.
>>217466714He should laugh it off like the Donner movie
Do we see Moner's feet in this movie ?
>>217466746Had the Kryptonian war criminals not been cartoonishly evil and were just terraforming with the same indifference as a construction team over an ant hill I could see why Clark would feel guilt over taking the life of a confused victim of circumstance, but Zod was perfectly clear that he intended petty revenge from Kal El so much as being born and then for daring to defend himself and his home planet. It's like if Batman Begins ended with Bruce shedding a tear for Ra's even after all he did to his family home, friends and city for little reason than he felt like it when he could have simply assassinated a few corrupt figures, put his people already there in place and been done.
>>217466978No, the final gesture of that was lasering all the embryos on Krypton's ship and then crashing it through five buildings full of people.
