I've recently started watching Japanese and Korean variety shows. Why is this kind of show so popular in Asia but nonexistent in America?
>>
These shows only work in a lighthearted and friendly atmosphere. But American TV always injects artificial drama to make things more high stakes than they need to be. It would lose its comfy appeal when people start threatening each other, cheating, gloating, and being unpleasant.

>threatening each other, cheating, gloating
Runningman has all of that and it's kino.

Japanese people were built to torture each other in silly ways.

Yep take a look at takeshi's castle and the shitty remake version, the Japanese have light hearted humor at the failures, the remake is so competitive and dramatic. It's quite irritating.

The other part is that Americans really like bending the rules as much as possible. If you watch things like the MTV version of Silent Library, you can see them trying their best to get out of punishments in a non-endearing way. It's a cultural thing.

The grind of their "stand up" is much longer, cos the concept of apprenticeship + comedy as a skill/craft is dead in US (due to the pump + dump mentality driven by pure hype that deindustrialization devolved into?) They actually have to be funny and have some kind of group dynamic to keep ppl watching.

Its this. Its why the OG Japanese iron chef is amazing and the western spins offs are garbage

You're judging an entire country based on an MTV show? Then the people calling for abiding by the laws + dissing a 2-tiered justice are an extreme minority? Ignorant or psyop shill.

Nigger, have you ever watched mutts get arrested?
>You were going 75 in a 25 and are clearly intoxicated.
>MUH FREEZE PEACH! MUH RIGHTS! MUH LAWSUIT!
We saw that dumb cunt get deservedly domed in Minnesota and mutts still try to justify her dumbass
