It's an extremely straightforward coming of age movie, how slow do you have to be to find it incoherent?

It's actually crazy how simple the plot is. You could summarize it in three sentences. Every character except Hoshino and Yuichi could be unnamed, that's how unimportant they are. But the strength of the movie lies in the visuals and sound and how moving the scenes are even when they involved minor characters and aren't essential to telling the story.
