Blasphemous as fuck. Perhaps not peak Weimerica but Lord, i cannot imagine a more perfect example of Hollywood and cultural degeneration that this got on tv and lasted as long as they did. Hey remember the next time they lecture you about being respectful to other people’s beliefs and not drawing pictures of “The Prophet” they gleefully allowed this show’s literally retarded inbred portrayal of Jesus The Christ on our screens. And also remember no one blew up any buildings over it.

Comic was good, but it's Garth Ennis, so it's going to be super edgy. The leader of the grail (1000lbs) gets dropped from a helicopter and graphically splats two people iirc. I don't remember that in the show. The first season of the show is fun, in that we don't really get much of Jesse's actual life in the beginning of the comics. After that it got worse. I'd probably just read the comics if you're interested, and not deal with the omissions or inclusions that happened after the first season. The first arc or two give a sense of if you'll enjoy the rest or not. Tons of sex, violence, fucked up scenarios and people, and the main trio are great.
