So now that’s where Hollywood studios can make the highest return on their investment. The game is spend 200-300 million on a movie with the hopes that it will make 1 billion. Comedy movies have a 5-10 million dollar budget and can usually make 40-50 million. So now if you want to produce a pure comedy movie, it usually goes straight to a streamer. Because humor is subjective and American humor doesn’t play well to foreign audiences. Guardians of the Galaxy was a big hit stateside but a lot of the humor was rooted in 1980’s pop culture references. The Chinese hated it. The line “If you shine a black light in here it’d look like a Jackson Pollock painting” is a funny dirty joke here but the Chinese hear that and say “Who’s Jackson Pollock?”. This is just speculation on my part, but I think the second Guardians featured far less pop culture jokes and more slapstick and body part based humor for that reason.

You know what this movie has... it has SOUL. The writing is hilarious. Beginning to end this is such a fun easy watch that many people can relate to.
There was something so comfy and kino about 2000s comedies that didn't give a fuck about being PC. Obama-era wokeness completely put an end to that all unfortunately
