I just finished reading the books. How bad is the show?
I heard they rewrote half of the story and race/gender swapped all the good characters.

Is it still worth watching? Since I read the original I actually don't mind if it's not super faithful, and has some changes to the story or surprises.

Never read the books. I got bored and gave up on this maybe 3/4 of the way through season 1. Lee Pace and Harris are the only people giving even remotely passable performances and Harris is barely in it.

It's nothing like the book but they made up a storyline that's actually very compelling. The butchered stuff from the book is awful though
>>
Well it's like Andor in the sense that they're a good alternative to Ambien

Pretty much this. If you go in expecting it to be basically nothing like the books, you’re better off.

The books suck. Asimov had a lot of issues as a writer, and they all come out when he tried to write novels. He should've stuck to short stories (though even there he was consistently mogged by Bradbury and Clarke)

they literally weren't novels, they were serials. his actual novels and novellas are great.

Apple TV shows consistently fuck up when it comes to writing, which is the most important aspect of a TV show.
Films can get away with relying on action or themes or visuals or whatever, but when you're sitting down for dozens of hours with a piece of entertainment, it has to be well written - and none of apple TV's stuff is.

It tells the story. Mildly amusing. The robot is hot. Star trek tier dialogue. Too much brownoids to get a chub over

For me it's the one where people don't meet in meatspace any more and instead have mansions full of robots to tend to their every need. Going outside is thought of as horrible and uncivilized.

yeah, robots series is my favorite too. how utterly fantastical a concept.

I've watched all three seasons and I wouldn't recommend it.
