what happened to musicals?
who cares, good riddance
>>217480264remember when they made this but everyone was black? lmfao they can't help themselves
>>217480264We just had K-pop demon hunters
>>217480264Too many giant turds trying to get vanity awards for stars. Also, Wicked just made a billion dollars, so they're fine.
>>217480327>animated>not about white america or europe
>>217480375Wonka then, it was even good against all expectations (yes it was maybe a little woke with the too many negros but they at least had the good sense to keep it slightly fantastical by never actually naming the place the movie was set which mitigated that a lot)
>>217480285>who cares, good riddancet. Gregg Turkington"Oliver!" is a classic and should remane untouched by leftist hands (too late)
>>217480375Animated musicals have been the only relevant take on musicals for several decades now
>>217480327and it flopped.
>>217480264You mightve heard of Wicked it came out like two months ago and was a big hit
>>217480264they to white
>>2174802962014, I kind of remember it being the start of all this shit.
>>217481759What?I work in school and kids are crazy for this movie for some reason. It's pretty much Frozen in how obsessed kids are for it.
>>217481852It's funny, I don't mind it when they go full black, as in, they just add in a fuck ton of black people. I don't see it as blackwashing at that point, but rather, the "black" version of it. They did it with thee wizard of Oz, Cinderella, etc. This is what I prefer as it is obvious that I will do my best to avoid it.Now, when a single character is blackwashed, then there is a problem and it makes my blood boil.
Moulin rouge was the bees knees!
I just hate dubbed musicals. The recent Les Miserables is good because the audio captured isn't dubbed. They all wore an earpiece that was playing the songs on piano to sing to. It's just better that way
>>217482005Nah, the whole advantage of film is you can edit it into being the most ideal version of the musical. I want the movie version to be as close to baseline as possible and leave the subtleties that come from spontaneous performance to live renditions. If you're not gonna take advantage of the medium you're working in, I don't think you should be working in it.
>>217481852>the bad guys are still white
>>217480264Believe it or not, too gay for the current year
