It added so much to certain scenes like when Kaneda goes into the ball of light and sees Tetsuo and the Esper’s memories. That synth pad with the flute is just great and creates a unique atmosphere

>>217482362I’d say yes if you’re even slightly interested. Akira’s a movie so you don’t need to invest too much time into it like a series. It also still holds up nearly 40 years later and technically speaking is still better than a lot of series. Just don’t go into it expecting common anime tropes and themes that have been tested and marked as successful with audiences. A lot of anime movies that came out in the 80s and 90s to an extent are more like traditional movies(which imo is a good thing)
