Was it autism?
>>
One of the most stupid movies I have ever seen
>I want to be special and stand out, so I will learn how to drum the drums fast!
>entire movie you don't even know if he plays the drums better or not, all he does is drumming faster

Not his tempo

Are music teachers actually like this?

It was tyranny.

It was him not being quite good enough for a stable recording contract, so he poured his failed ambition into a big band contest between other conservatories. He was a great musician, but it never translated to the next level so his calling was winning a competition of musicians he would never again be a part of because he got his master's degree 30 years ago.
Shoulda focused on classical instead of jazzshit, at least then you could teach without a chip on your shoulder

>wanted perfection from jazz
Of every music genre it’s the one that is all about imperfections
I think it was autism
>>
>>217481724
This whole movie is just cope. It doesnt matter if the main character felt stronger in the end. He built that self esteem on trauma. Somebody bullied him, broke him down, then built him back up. Thats trauma bonding and its the worst form of teaching there is. If this was a real scenario the kid would have end up in therapy, bowing his eyes out
>>
>>217481799
I bet your taste in music sux
>>
>>217482178
I genuinely thought at the end he was going to outright kill Fletcher when he walked back on stage
>>
>>217482178
>therapy
probably accurate for americans. but elsewhere thats just character building.
>>
>this guy yelled at me
>I am now...le traumatized
>>
>>217482243
Well that am him physically beating him, humiliating him, mentally torturing him, and overall emotionally manipulating him.
But yea anon I bet you’re tough and strong

Another reminder that Whiplash is a satirical dark comedy that people memed themselves into taking seriously
>>
>>217482291
Satire on what exactly?

Nigger, just walk out of the classroom. Close your ears
>>
>>217482291
Been saying this for years and I still don't know how others don't see it
>>
What I don't understand is how JK wants him to replicate these jazz musicians from 60 years ago who were all fat, alcoholics, and high while playing.

I guess you could argue that the niggas were just playing shit for how it "felt", not intending for a future where some bald prick berates his students for not matching Tyrone's shaky alcky hand.

Am I retarded for just now realizing that the message could be that JK's character is retarded for demanding perfection from something that is inherently imperfect?
>>
>>217482523
>demanding perfection from something that is inherently imperfect
Yea, Jazz is all about expression, and giving personal touches. Its about letting your soul shine through. It’s like wanting perfection from a painting
>>
>>217481724
>if you were any good you would be able to put up with my constant abuse because you wouldnt let anything stop you
Very female-brained behavior.
>>
>>217482660
>telling someone "skill issue" is female behavior
lol
