Why can't Disney make good movies again like they did between 1937 and 1942?
This was the first movie I saw in theaters.

I would let my kid watch Martyrs before the donkey scene in Pinocchio. Hate that scene so much. Whoever wrote it is a vile sadistic freak.

That movie and its sequel leaned into the body-horror implications of Pleasure Island's transformation magic to a WEIRD, forced-feeling degree, making the magic water feel more like something out of a sci-fi biohorror movie. The donkey transformations look significantly more grotesque in live action but what's worse is that Lorenzini (who's basically a composite of Stromboli, the Coachman and ultimately Monstro) also ends up mutating into a sea monster form from magic exposure and it straight-up looks like something from The Thing. He's shown mutating in even more gruesome detail in the sequel, which also has him flitting between male and female.Basically I think the director and writers of those movies should be shot.
