Not likely. What this deal entailed was Genndy trading his own personal creative freedom for being Lucasfilm's laptop, and whether that had George in charge or Disney the position was the same. Filoni agreed to be a lapdog, so he was given the leadership role and kept around even when Disney bought the IP and company.
