Yes, frankly it was the peak of human civilization. I'm convinced the wachowski fags took enough ketamine to talk to the elder gods and they explained it was all downhill from 1999.

why?

-post war economic boom
-socialization heavily dependent on proximity.

With mass immigration bringing in new non white economic migrants due to hart cellar, economic collapse, and extreme inner city crime due to drugs and other issues, 1970-1980s were basically a bombed out warzone for new york.
Guillani basically cleaned all that shit up and made it habitable. But this crucible of chaos built a hipster scene of artists that waded through the terror and had built careers by the 90's. so there was lots of cool shit to take part in and see. coming off the 80s boom and subsequent corporate boom:
-economy was good
-still super majority white
-crime had been massively controlled
-internet had not destroyed socialization and atomized the world

it really will never get better than 1990's new york. Maybe in a century....
