PTA doesn't deserve best director either for that matter, I have no idea why people are preaising that mediocrity for direction. The colour grading is ugly and despite using VistaVision the film looks incredibly boxed-in and claustraphobic in it's staging and framing. Marty Supreme is the same closeup extravagnza as it's usual with Safdie's yet it feels ten times for lived-in and organic, Josh deserves Best Director here absolutely. Now Ronald Bronstein's wife made an even better movie with If I Had Legs I'd Kick You but it does not have much mass appeal and is small scale so I get it, it's not an "Oscar" movie. We'll be lucky if Rose Byrne gets that Oscar for best actress. If someone fucking posts Armond White malding about that movie I'm gonna fuck your ass so hard even that zesty buck would think that's too much.
