Russell Crowe has been in bad movies but has never given a bad performance

His singing in Les Mis was bad. But not too long after that he sand a lullaby in Noah and sounded just fine. It's not that Crowe can't sing it's that he made woefully dreadful decisions about how his Les Mis character would annunciate. The acting during the singing is specifically what he fucks up.
