The 16mm film reels had degraded over time, and a pink or yellow tint is very common as certain dyes expire. The online fandom is mostly built around the DVD releases rather than the original TV broadcasts. The studio is notoriously short sighted and cheap, and has refused to do a proper HD scan of both Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball. I mean it's obvious since there's magazines that printed screenshots from the show.

The videotape masters that YTV had didn't have much color degredation since they were made from 16mm film masters that were only a few years old. The DVDs were made in the 00s when the show was 10-15 years old and the film reels had degraded.It's bog standard for film masters to have distorted color over time, which is why they do color correction. They should have done that for the DVD releases but they didn't care. It was "good enough".
