It's because shows have movie budgets now. Back in the day of 30+ episode seasons they were shooting on only a handful of sets over and over and CG budgets weren't as much of as thing and when they were it showed

not an excuse. just hire more jeets

Rag em tag em and Bag em raw

It's not an excuse it's the reason. They weren't spending 200 million on mad about you or e.r.

your body sucks it in

what about lost? they had new locations every episode for the flashbacks
>>
I'm fine with 8 episode seasons, I just wish that they could stick to a rigid runtime. Ridiculous that one episode will be an hour long, then the next episode is forty minutes, the episode after that is an hour and fifteen minutes. Is it really that fucking hard to stick to 45 minutes an episode?
>>
>>217660389
TV budgets had already started ballooning by Lost, also it got popular enough that they could justify it
>>
>>217660289
Hire no jeets. Just make decent shows with small budgets that don't need cgi. Now everything needs to become the next Stranger Things or its cancelled before season 3.

Fuck that. Give me some sitcoms that don't need any special effects, run for 22 minutes a pop, and don't need 100 billion streams to make their money back.

Go back to broadcast tv. It's still free!

Bro, you can shoot 90's level big budget tier movies on a shoe string budget and have CG that's better then marvel slop done by a few american geeks.

There is no excuse for 8 shows per season. That is not enough to build an audience or leave an impact.
No amount of social engineering online can make that untrue.
Television is completely barren right now and boomers are starved of certain genres and actors and actresses are looking for work.

And outer limits TV show that doesn't try to push southern cali ideology or political bullshit could work well be shot on shoe string budgets and depend on good story telling.

This is what you said whenever the seasons were 10 episodes you can't keep on using this excuse
>>
>>217661031
Sure I can, it's true for 8 or 10
>>
>>217660187
Yeah, you know what was wrong with Pluribus? It needed to be twice as long. LOL
>>
The biggest problem with 8 episode seasons is that they want to have the last episode or two be the climax, and then they don't bother setting up anything interesting for the middle episodes. So then you have a premiere that undoes all the interesting parts of the previous cliffhanger, then 4-6 episodes of useless meandering where it feels like nothing is happening, then a finale that sets up another useless cliffhanger.

Iirc they can't go lower because then it would be a mini series and those have different contracts and shit.

Somehow one episode of Starfleet Academy costs 10 million dollar. iirc Star Wars Acolyte season cost 30 million per episode. I don't know where the fuck all that money goes but it severely limits how many episodes per season they are willing to make.

In order to make you pay another month's subscription they would have to make 12 episodes, which means an extra 4 episodes of filler (stuff only happens in first and final episodes now).
