Dread Central just got bought out by BD so they don't even need to compete.

First time posting here,
How entry level is pic related? I saw it a few weeks ago after watching a video essay on my youtube feed about liminal horror and was very pleasently surprised; liked it how bizarre and nightmarish feels like.

Do you have some similar recommendations?

The 70s was a great decade for horror. There's a ton of stuff to get into. I'd recommend Let's Scare Jessica to Death, a lesser-known film but one most here seem to like.

Excellent film. One thing that really stands out is how most of it is free from music, but then you get really striking musical cues during intense parts. Later on films like Possession and more would do something similar. Actually the whole film is quite subdued.

2026 will be my year of horror. i've been posting about dario argento movies where i watched a bunch of them this year, and last week i watched "midnight mass", and this weekend i'm going to watch mike flanagan's "the haunting of hill house" and i'm just going to dedicate this year to watching horror films because that's always been a genre i sort of wasn't interested in but now i'm going to focus on it and regularly post about horror movies in this general

>>
>>217683504
nice. for me the first episode was discombobulating because i found some of the acting quite bad, but i think they were just doing a lot of setting up in that first episode, and it gets better onwards; so don't let that first episode discourage you

to be honest it doesn't seem like a stephen king "i'm gonna scare the hell out of you" type movie and it's more a semi-autobiographic elements about growing up with christianity and being a recovering alcoholic on a small dying island with horror elements added on

it makes sense to me why people would think it boring if you're expecting a horror flick, i think it's closer to a genre deconstruction like "true blood" or "near dark"

Women test men by instinct. It's their nature. It has been said many times before that feminism is a shit test that men at large have failed. I'm not saying that it's not destructive and obnoxious, but rather I'm saying that the kind of deranged views and behavior which seek to destroy men for no reason at all is not indicative of all women. There are many women who want a healthy pair-bonded relationship that lasts. It will never be like it was for our grandparents, but there are good women. They are still women, of course, but they're not all radfems.
>>
>>217686975
I get what you are saying.
But a girls prime is 18-19 and if they don’t want a “healthy pair-bonded relationship that lasts” WHILE THEY ARE IN THEIR PRIME, then it doesn’t count.
Hitting age 24 and looking for that means they are looking for betabucks.

You're not wrong. I think there are some exceptions to even that but they have to be considered exceedingly rare. They are the born again types who seek out accountability and go for an extended period of celibacy by choice. Unicorns, basically. Women don't have incentives to go that route when they have men showering them with money, attention, and propositions. I don't mean to concern troll, but as I understand it, AWALT applies strictly to hypergamy and its associated behaviors. They are still human beings with individual personalities and proclivities, and to deny that reality is to deny oneself an opportunity to actually bag one of the rare good ones.

Lemora: A Child's Tale of the Supernatural (1973)

An almost painfully beautifully shot movie about an innocent little girl meeting a vampire queen.
>>
>>217688271
Footprints on the Moon (1975)

The Vampires' Night Orgy (1973)
- Maybe one of the most misleading titles ever: there are no vampires, no orgies, and it doesn't happen at night.

It's basically Brigadoon as a horror movie.
>>
>>217688271
Blue Sunshine (1977)
- in the swinging 60s, some hippy kids took an experimental psychedelic that just made them sick.
...But it turns out to have a delayed effect: ten years after taking it, you have acid flashbacks followed by murderous insanity.

Maybe the purest ever example of Hitchcockian suspense.

Sorority House Massacre was way better than I thought it'd be. I'd basically give it the same review as Slumber Party Massacre. Somehow they find an appealing medium between a female writer/director, and a producer who demands it be fun and have topless scenes. None of the characters are over the top stereotypes, they're all just kind of nice young people. And it has some realistic weight to the stabbings.

For such a big holiday, Valentine's Day really falls flat in the horror movie department
There are like five decent ones worth watching, and the rest is just rubbish
>>
Would you look at that, it's time for my brief and pointless thoughts on what I just watched:

>The Yellow Taboo
I was going to say it's a 4.5-5/10 movie and some might like it, but then the ending happened. Now I can say to skip the movie because holy shit did the very end just nullify the entire movie. Everything before that gets erased basically, so there's no point in even watching the fucking thing. It was already a very drama focused movie to begin with, and there wasn't any scares. Wasted my time on this one.
>fuji_jukai.mov
As the FF Chad of 4chan, I can tell you that it's one giant PSA with a FF horror movie plot to move shit forward. Is it good? Well, not really. There are a few good scenes, but there are far more boring ones. The horror plot is broken up by people giving a PSA about suicide in the forest and how you shouldn't do it. Then there's nature transition scenes designed to promote the forest/mountain as just a beautiful place. The highlight of the entire thing is the weird cult deep in the forest that for some reason all have the star of david on their outfit.
>Crabs!
It's shit. I was hoping it would be a funny b-movie creature movie, but it doesn't work, at least IMO. The Radu character is unbelievably annoying and ruins every scene he's in. There are a few funny scenes, the teacher/mom is attractive, but everything else was just really fucking boring.
