In Star Trek love is recognized as a simple chemical response to stimuli. People simply have their stimulants counteract the effects of the chemicals released by their bodies. Love is a liability. Reproduction is simply organized and performed by the federation selecting complementary genetics to combine and grow in artificial wombs
>>217727871In Star Trek, true love is recognized as a male human mating with a Caitian or Ferasan, and is the most sacred of acts.
>>217726642I don't understand folks who say: 'Dukat did nothing wrong'. Ummm, like. Have you watched the show? His behaviour towards Bajorians, in particular Bajorian women, was v problematic. And wrong
>>217726642Sure. Up until he sold Cardassia to the Founders and became a Dominion puppet.
>>217728317How did Jake score with this bimbo?
>>217728045In trek sex will only be allowed in holodecks or with masturbation machines. It is a simple diversion much like exercise. It will be hammered out of intelligent species through genetic modifications in due time. The government will handle reproduction much better than individuals.
>>217728659He's the station commander's son.
>>217728659Banging the son of the Emissary has to to be the goal of a lot of Bajorian broads. Or more pragmatically, as a Dabo girl with a shitty boss. Banging the son of the dude who bosses your boss around can't hurt.

>>217728692You don't see this onscreen much because it happens mostly on the core planets, but most human children are sired by a relatively small number of "bulls" who form a self-contained caste within Federation society and each serve as a sort of male "hive queen" by mating with and impregnating women in large numbers. For example both Kirk and Riker are members of the bull caste, as is Wesley's obviously absentee father.Men who mate out-of-caste are generally shunned and sidelined, especially within such a respectable organization as Starfleet; for example, Sisko's fathering of Jake was ultimately responsible for his transfer to the outermost periphery of Federation space. And we all know about the travails O'Brien faced after entering wedlock with a female. On the other hand repressed and obedient volcels such as Picard are quickly promoted to the upper echelons of Starfleet---as long as there is always a Bull handler present (in his case Riker).

Association of physical copulation is just a chud strategy to degrade and destroy trek because the chuds are made that nutrek has black people and women as focal points now. Trek rises above rutting and bodily fluids and represents so much more than such simple animal desires.

I think eventually genetic modifications would change everything in the federation. But it would take a while... I think with the medtech we have seen we would certainly see most people in the federation become nullos. I think humans inherently (though not always) gravitate to either masc or fem so people would keep their general sex characteristics. Again given enough time genetic modification would create a beautiful, clean unisex population. Treks vision of the future is hopeful, the path to that future may leave us bruised and battered but always, always a little closer to that brighter future and I think humans (normal) > humans (artificial wombs) > humans (sexual impulse chemical limited) > humans (nullo) > humans (genetically unisex between masc and fem) > humans (completely unisex)I don't know how the other beings would feel but I think Vulcans would go hand in hand to this clean and peaceful future and I think if you play this out far enough they'd likely become borglike
>>217729818They fly around in a shuttlepod with this paint job
>>217729888Um, did you watch any Star Trek?maybe it was luck, coincidence, or maybe they were purposefully light-years ahead of the debate, but the original series squished the whole debate about genetic engineering, as very dangerous. very very dangerous. so dangerous that we dare not do it ever again
Imagine a fully realized trek future. It would be so clean and so peaceful. You could dedicate your life to your craft. I would be a civil servant ensuring the gears of a star spanning government turn smoothly and uncreasingly. Body hair would be gone, stink would be gone, so would anger. Sure it would take a while to get there but artists would be appreciated along the way and people would aspire to great things (for them). People would be happy having their role as defined by and for them. Of course it would take a long time to get there and their would be awful things along the way but it would be better than today. Imagine elimination of germs! That alone would make things so clean compared to today. Eventually nanobots would come along and even mechanical organs. So much could be done and I wish more people shared in the hope and joy of a trek future. That's why it sucks everyone just watches the old stuff. There is so much more to do and unpack. It's literally a blueprint for us but we need to actually progress to see that happen and that involves new stories that need to be loved.
>>217726467Kurtzman's production company has an iron grip on NuTrek and the new owners of Paramount are contractually obligated to make ST Academy even though they know its shit and has no ratings. They even have to put out a shortened Season 2. That is how much Kurtzman has an iron grip on the franchise. But the good news is that after all of that is finished all bets are off and the rights revert back to Paramount. They are already angling to get rid of him but its complicated because he owns everything related to NuTrek. So if they cut bait completely everything from NuTrek has to either be retconned or ignored. If they put anything in from NuTrek they have to pay him and he will technically still have his claws involved and they won't be 100% free of him.
>>217730075Good, we want total recons.
>>217729964>>217729888If genetic modification ever becomes a thing the woke mob will be involved and whichever way the wind blows the woke mob will enforce it as a moral imperative. They will either insist that everybody be genetically modified or if the dice rolls the other way they will insist that genetic modification is worthy of being spurned from society. There is no way to be sure except for the fact that the woke crowd will be fanatical about it.

You know that I did not do those things for months. I did not allow a single bomb to be dropped in the city of Paris. Before we attacked Warsaw, I called for surrender five times, I was always refused. I asked that at least the women and children be sent out. Not even the officer bearing the flag of truce was received. Everything was refused, and only then did I decide to do what is permitted by every law of war. When the English started to drop their bombs, I waited three and a half months and did nothing. At that time there were many who said: "Why don't we answer them? Why isn't . . . ? We were already strong enough to do it. I waited, thinking simply that perhaps they would still come to their senses.

>>217730075>>217730109>>217730841Kurtzman has contributed zero good characters, plots, aliens, or ideas to Star Trek. His contributions are either stupid, like the supernova that destroyed the Romulan Empire and turned the Romulans into refugees, which he later self plagiarized by destroying the Klingon Empire and turning Klingons into refugees, or stupid and plagiarized. The Burn is copied from the Destroy ending of Mass Effect, which removes FTL technology, and from the Age of Strife in Warhammer 40K, where intense warp storms prevent FTL travel.

>>217730158I like TOS and nutrek is awful >tardigrade network? Like why >civilisation that practices eugenics but somehow full of gay officials Confusing dude. You can't make any of it make sense. I never used to ask questions about this sort of shit while watching oldtrek, because 90% of the time they wouldn't bother their own audience for the sake of envelope pushing. The only time I even had to suspend my disbelief was with insaneway constantly trying to suicide her entire ship but at least it was funny. You people don't understand what makes something entertaining. If it requires too much suspension of disbelief in addition to being novel in set, setting, and subject, then the whole thing falls apart.Imagine this for example, >planet full of gays Ok>they are because there are no women left but still have the ability to be sexually stimulated and as such they all went full prison inmate but at this point have technology to produce male only children Sure, I'd have some questions and not be a huge fan but there is consistency so I could accept it at bare minimum. Now>Same story>Every man is gay but there are women>The men and women both can respond to sexual stimuli >The men make their own children in a lab and won't touch the women Weird. There must be some bizarre explanation for this, the captain will send an away team>turns out they all just have like, big feelings about penises and don't like icky space vagoo >The women also hate the men and refuse to bear children because of mild differences of opinion Captain we're leaving- but what was- no we're just leaving don't even worry about it Nutrek is the latter. Inconsistent, tries to be relatable through nostalgia pandering instead of solid plot lines, shits on its predecessors (disrespectful and full of hate), has weird lazy make-up and all the characters are zesty as all hell. It's like watching someone rip a bandaid off of their pimpled anus and put it on you. It is indigestible.
>>217732371too bad they didn't have some actual talent instead of a few metal sculptures and pieces of paper
>>217732597ENT's tellarite makeup is underrated desu
>>217733269>tardigrade network?>Like whyI know exactly why. I used to listed to Radiolab. And there is this episode: 'From Tree to Shining Tree'. From 2016. I listed to it then and remember liking it. All about the huge underground mycelial networks in forests. And I also know that around this time that tardigrades were popular. They were getting studied a lot. Blasted into space and surviving. Frozen for decades and surviving. Their evolution was thought to be really weird, scientists said they had absorbed some of their DNA from different species (which I don't think is considered true anymore). These were all being reported on.So, what happened. The DISCO writer's room was assembled. None of these writers had any idea what to do. So they thought 'Star Trek is sci-fi, let's find science ideas'. And they quickly plucked these two pop-science things because they were viral on some 'fuck yeah science!' type website right at that moment. Mashed them together. And tried to build a plot around it.
>>217733554Yeah, it's just lazy dude. I get it. I used to grow different types of mushrooms and mycelium is interesting and responds to external stimuli and all kinds of cool shit but is it a hyperspace tunnel? No.Are obese bacteria with assmouths going to be massless at the size of a room? Probably not.
>>217733554don't forget the panspermia theory that life originated from... asteroids carrying bacteria... or something... which doesn't actually answer where it came from, just that it was spread on space rocksso I guess the writers thought these asteroids were leaving mushroom fart clouds in their wake, and that the magic mushroom drive was jumping along all these interdimensional spore trails, because... vibes
>>217733766As world-building in some sci-fi story. It's honestly a nice enough idea. Could be a neat concept for space travel in some pulpy sci-fi novel. Riding the bacterial chemtrails of asteroids. But, ramming it into a 60-year-old established franchise. Their world has already been built. And that's not in it.
>>217733855Do you read /lit/ too or just pulp?

>>217734017I really don't read sci-fi pulp at all. I did read The Forever War a month ago. I liked it. And, I WANT to like sci-fi novels more than actually do. But, usually I get a couple chapters in and it's just annoying. A retarded idea that's poorly written.
>>217734037I dunno.
>>217734128Then why do you enjoy star trek so much?
>>217734128>planet middle finger
>>217734182That's why I want to get into sci-fi novels. Because I like Star Trek. I like the ideas. But, I just don't think I've found the right entry point yet. Like, maybe if I found an author or a subgenre that I enjoy. And got into that vein, could be it. I liked Man in the High Castle. So, I think I'll try some Philip K. Dick next time I feel like sci-fi.
>>217734272isn't man in the high castle part of a nazi book series?
Why did STD re-retcon their own Klingons like who does that
>>217734422The backlash was pretty bad. I'm amazed viewers cared enough to react to be honest.
how long do you think it will take for the tourists to get bored and fuck off?
>>217734287Yes, it's an alt-future where where Nazis won. Not a series, just one novel. I've only read one other 'alt-future where where Nazis won' novel. Fatherland by Robert Harris. I liked the plot of Fatherland more. Because it's a hardboiled noir about a German police detective slowly uncovering what Germany did to folks in the '40s. Which had been kept secret. But, Man in the High castle is better. A bit more plotless, but good character studies. And, Rutger Hauer was in the TV movie of Fatherland. He was also in Bladerunner. Which was an adaptation of Phillip K Dick's novel. So, I think I'll read that next. Because it's a sci-fi with a hardboiled detective.
>>217734272Iain M Banks has the culture series. Start with Use of Weapons. Ursula le Guin does a lot of good stories. Honestly for me my favorite entry point is The Word For World Is Forest. Lem is a ponderous read. I like His Master's Voice as a starting point. Peter Watts, start with Blindsight.China Mieville, start with Embassytown. The City & The City isn't scifi but it's a great read. But of course the greatest sci-fi novel of all time is picrel.

>>217735363isn't that a Dex
>>217735376>Somebody explain it to meYou're going to regret it. But here goes. The rudiments of 32nd Century trek was cribbed from a scrapped cartoon version of Trek where almost all the dilithium exploded and the era of exploration restarted (including a weird hammerhead version of the enterprise piloted by a descendant of Kirk). When Brian Fuller noped out of Discovery, Kurtzman panicked and looted the scraps bin and reused that idea, but needed to give it a reason. The reason is more retarded than an actual kids cartoon would have come up with: a Kelpien (sentient death sensing people) was sad and cried. I am serious, this is what happened. He was sad and his psychic powers assploded all the dilithium that was actively in use. Everything else was from the original cartoon Bible. ~120 years of everyone in isolated islands with travel being a very precious luxury (*cough*Emperor Leto II*cough*) and then it's resolved and now the fragments have to figure out how to reorganize again. As an idea it's not the worst but its etiology is proof Kurtzman is an absolute hack fraud lesbian Indian Chinese woke chud jew.

>>217735121>the more I ponder it, the more and more The Burn seems so fucking stupidpeople could write essays on how awful of a decision this wasStar Trek established that there were other things to power Warp Drives besides Dilithium. there was not one, but SEVERAL plots that revolved around Romulans using tiny black holes instead. and that's just one example. I know it's a lot of episodes, but the writers did not even check on this?even if they re-wrote it to make it something different (like a constant echo of universe-vibration that prevented the formation of warp fields or some nonsense) the thing that destroyed it was the dissolving of The Federation, and the way the "evolved" Humans on Earth built a wall around the planet and became reclusive a-holes instead of optimistic explorers. they still had radios to talk to eachother, and stranded aliens all around Earth would have diluted the population worse than if space travel was possible to ferry people back and forth to their own home worlds.
>>217736179This is why the Final Frontier idea was better. The dilithium wasn't the issue, it was Omega fucking up subspace. It would be like remaining minefields after a war.

>>217736761every series has its rough patches
>>217736798No sex appeal, retard captain, too preachy
>>217736798From what I've seen so far, it's the same 5 people doing EVERYTHING on the ship, the characters having barely any personality and being completely 2 dimensional, and the stories just being not being very interesting. I like all the tech being very primitive though, and Doctor Phlax is pretty neat.
>>217736739This comes off as insincere.
>>217736798>What makes ENT so much worse than TOS?Based on the bits I've seen, it suffers from the 200s-era "everything must be smutty" but without the earnestness of 1990s syndicated smutty TV shows.

Hmm hmm. Heh heh. Hmm hmm. Hah! Woo! Hah!
>>217736739I’ve been lurking for like two and a half weeks mostly, only occasionally piping up on discussions of the RLM videos (which I have been watching recently)I watched TNG and then ENT back in 2019 but stopped watching and posting because I got sent out for work w/o a television or internet for eight months and then never got back into it. But SA being dogshit has revived discussions and also now my algorithms on twitter and instagram reels are TNG and DS9 and VOY edits
>>217736798ENT doesn't have an episode even half as good as the most mediocre TOS S1 episode.Carbon Creek comes closest but that episode is high above the rest of ENT's catalog in terms of quality to the point it was probably a leftover from VOY meant for Seven of Nine. But ENT has nothing even in the same stratosphere of TOS' best episodes.
So ENT is worse than TOS because nobody here has actually watched ENT to know any better.Got it.
