>>217774485The nonbinary coming out scene made me want to crawl out of my fucking skin. Besides the gay kid's insecurity subplots this show has mostly been good about avoiding identity BS pitfalls. It turns out the actress who plays Quinn (who started out as an interesting character with potential but has turned into a nothing character) is nonbinary herself, so I guess they had to give her character a special enby coming out scene.This season has lost a little bit of its focus, with the bloating cast and the fact that it isn't a succinct murder mystery story anymore. Too many characters, and most of the newer ones are fucking lame. But it is still probably the best show on TV (that I'm aware of/watching). The visual style is so nice: dark, muted, moody but still colorful. And I love the way the dialogue scenes are shot head-on, with the characters centered and speaking directly to the camera. And it has a more relaxed pace that you just don't see on TV very much anymore. Not every scene is a plot-forwarding exposition dialogue scene, or some fart-sniffing overly-artsy "look at me" show-stopper. It's just characters relating to one another. Sometimes, you can tell they're working with a lower budget than shows like Severance or Stranger Things, because it feels like actual fucking TV, rather than a wannabe movie, and it benefits so much from that. Even with all the problems this season it's so much more watchable and enjoyable than anything else on TV.
