It feels messy. I don't hate it but it feels messy and not convoluted, but...messy. Perhaps someone who isnt retarded like me can elaborate.

Yeah I know what you mean I think. To me, I think it felt like a movie that was constantly trying to grab me and make me feel angry happy sad and whatever. Obviously all movies do this, but in this one it all felt ham fisted. I felt like it didn't really handle the complexity of police corruption well. It felt like a disney movie in that way. Also, that one scene where Serpico chimps out after almost being shot chasing a criminal in plain clothes comes to mind. Serpico puts himself in a bad position and freaks out at the unsurprising consequences. This also happens when he snaps at his friend because they had a setback in giving their story to the press. It was cool to see a portrayal of corrupt cops in nyc, but I found Serpico kind of annoying and unpleasant as 'the good guy'

One of Pacinos best IMO
>>
Shit movie. Shitty main character. Hippie faggot cop. People only consider it a classic because Pacino was on a great run in the 70s.

Hey… LOVE MY GARDEN

Writing in this was good. Solid 8/10.

Check out The Panic in Needle Park if you haven’t seen it. Pacino’s first leading role and he’s great

Getting shot in the face must have sucked but at least it was a .22.

The scenes where he rizzes girls up are just boomer cringe

The editing in this fucking filtered me hard, but Lumet had plenty of films I loved so idk what went wrong really. Probably needs a rewatch.

>I'm a marked man in this department. For what?

I like that the film was filmed backwards, they had Pacino grow out his hair and film the scenes with long hair first then cut it to reach the beginning of the movie, when he had a more formal look.
For some reason, this simple solution pleases my autism.

Your trolling needs work

He wasn’t much of a hippie. I saw him as a guy who never wanted to take things that far, but due to his own obstinacy and perhaps pettiness decided to be a stickler. Never started out as some crusader, he just calmly rejected his take and everyone else made a big fuckin deal over it

Of all the Lumet crime kinos, this stands at the top

I enjoyed it, and I am very surprised that almost no one has heard of it. Was it a bomb when it came out or something?
>>
>serpico

that was the name of my first bosses childhood dog. This was before 2000, mind you. He used that password for every account xD

Not sure, but then again 1990 was pretty stacked when it came to big name films. Maybe it flew under the radar

Watched this movie as a teen and thought it was dreadfully boring and have never managed to convince myself to rewatch it.
