Was being a 20something in late-90s UK really like this, bros?
>>
>>217777404
No it was pretty brown back then too
>>
it's still like that
>>

Imagine trying to live your best years during the late 90s.
>AOL chatrooms that lead nowhere
>women don't have sex unless you're committing to a relationship
>rent porn tapes
>your net of potential sexual partners is your local bar or doing speed dating

You can literally order sex on demand from your phone for free now.

Grim.

>but muh true love and sincerity in dating like in the good old days!

Retard, love isn't real. Only transactional relationships

The Internet was still good in the 90’s and the 2000’s it’s gone to shit now with the majority it’s former glory being deliberately purged. Gaming was still good in the 90’ and 2000’s now it’s shit the same with Film and TV.

>women don't have sex unless you're committing to a relationship

god that sounds awful haha
>>
>>217777625
I was talking about things you would do as an adult, not children's entertainment
>>
>>217777545
Kill yourself
>>
>>217777696
None of those things are just children’s entertainment in anyway.

Hello, South American teenager number four million, eight hundred and seventy thousand, nine hundred and eighty four. Enjoying your first tour of /tv/?
>>
>>217777545
the only time I have fucked a girl met online was on a usenet newsgroup in the late '90s
>>
>>217777844
That says it all, if you lived with the same age you would have been able to that x50 at least.
>>
>>217777545
>women don't have sex unless you're committing to a relationship
How it is supposed to be.
>>
>>217777545
The 90s was one of the most kino times to be a teen/young adult, imo.
>>
>>217777404
If you were an americanised nerd.

For most young lads, it was the same as it always was: minge, beer and footy. Going down the pub, getting on the gear, getting in a punch up, going to the match, going to the pub and trying to get the roger wet

>If you were an americanised nerd.
Weren't most Gen X Brits exactly that?
>>
It reminds me a lot of that era at college. People just hanging out watching movies and playstation. Smoking hash, going out partying, having gfs...al the good shit that should be normal but smart phone insanity kind of put a wedge in it.
>>
>>217777545
Eh if you're good at it, getting chicks from bars is fun too and you get to have a good excuse to drink too. And back then you had all the reason to train yourself to be good at it. The alcohol brings a certain fun and exciting flavour to being with chicks. You just had to know what bar/club all the hottest women in your city went to. But i get what you mean, nowdays it's so easy to find hot women off tinder that to me personally, sex has already started to lose a bit of it's luster.
>>
>>217778800
ugh you Americans are so vulgar. This thread isnt about sex with random "chicks" cringe retard.
>>
>>217777404

maybe for you, cuck
i have procured sex from aim, napster, ebay feedback and yahoo
i will never procure it from tinder because it's too pathetically easy and a grotesque meat-market

it was pretty good, enough technology to feel like there was always something bigger and better on the horizon. culture wasn't completely homogenized by social media so other towns and groups of people felt unique. everyone didn't have the internet in their pocket acting as a security blanket to protect them from "awkward" social interactions.
i know everyone says "it was better in my day" but it really seems like anyone who came of age before 2007 had it infinitely better than what people grow up in now.
>>
>>217777404
dunno, i was 16. i hooked up with a 40 year old woman from bradford via my sega dreamcast. she smoked a lot of cigarettes, which was quite offputting in person. everybody my age tended to stand on street corners drinking stella and white lightning, then go do some speedballs and fuck each other in the kids playground at night.

It probably was worse if you're the type of chad who women just want casual sex with all the time. Much more even across the playing field, since everybody had the same limitation of options, so it was better for pretty much everyone else since women were not all congregated in harems on chad's lap.

You're not wrong, but you're missing a key element here - people used to genuinely take an interest in one another.

Back then you could meet somebody new and just get this sense of excitement like "Wow, I've never met anybody like this before". Maybe they had a look you weren't use to seeing, or listened to music that you didn't know existed, had life experiences and stories that were so foreign to you that you got second-hand excitement from hearing it.

That kinda stuff still happens to today, but it's so much more muted. Everything is so saturated and we know so much about one another, that nothing seems novel anymore. Instead of welcoming new people with open arms, we reject them before we even know them. It used to be that someone you met was automatically cool until proven otherwise, now it's flipped.

I haven't seen this movie btw, it probably has nothing to do with any of this

Nogs and Pakis hardly featured in adverts and TV shows. My town was (overwhelmingly) majority white, and the high-street had just 2 takeaway slop joints. Sadly, New Labour changed the geography of people in the early/mid 2000s and my locale now resembles Mogadishu. Every politician deserves to be slowly garrotted.

I dig the meta-joke that Pegg's character hates this guy, and Episode 1, and this actor voiced Darth Maul.

From 1997 onwards, London has experienced a drastic change in the composition of the city's population, which has off-set the decline of the population which had been occurring. In 1991, 21.7% of the city was foreign born but by 2011 this had risen to 36.7%.

Yes and unlike the retards above young people partied and had sex and friends. These dorks best memories are in Call of Duty sessions instead of being social in real life. Sad!
