Weed gives me panic attacks, even in very low amounts. Even when I don't get panic attacks, I feel cold and my body is trembling and I'm in a constant state of anxiousness. It makes music sound incredible, but that's the only good thing it does. I also cannot seem to make any new memories while high, it hinders my ability to focus drastically to the point where I can start speaking a sentence, and midway through, not remember how I started or what I'm saying. Usually after sobering up, I can't remember single thing from when I was high. Whenever I play a game or watch a movie while high, I can't focus so my performance is shit, and I end up not remember anything anyway. Maybe it's a biological thing and weed just isn't for me. I mostly do edibles though because I hate the smell of weed, mainly because the smell itself is enough to give me anxiety because my brain has associated it with panic attacks and feelings of death so even just being around it is like being in the presence of a serial killer. I have no idea what's wrong with me, but I don't understand how people enjoy this. Alcohol does none of this for me. The only thing being high does better is being able to enjoy music differently, I wish I could experience that without the avalanche of negative effects. Being drunk makes my night. Being high ruins it. Don't know what else to say, but I envy people who can get high and have a good time.

I quit drinking when I caught myself buying booze and telling myself that I don't drink that much, and then realizing that's one of the red flags, and since I'm not a drunk like half my family, I can just stop drinking.
Once in a blue moon I'll have some beer or wine with a meal, or in a social setting, but I really don't miss it once my body adjusted to sobriety.

I’m so glad I got sober
Almost 2 years now after having done several month sobriety stints and relapsing in the past
I finally got my life in a good place and I haven’t had a single urge to drink since
Been through medical detox, inpatient rehab, etc
What finally got me to stop was a horrific pain in my side that ironically turned out to just be a sore disc from working out rather than liver or stomach issues
Still gave me the kick in the ass I needed
Life is better sober, even if it’s boring as fuck sometimes, definitely beats the bloat and mindless spending and withdrawals and regret from looking through your phone the next day (so every day)
