Do you need a post apocalyptic zombie world to live like this?

It was one of the only understandable sources of in group friction that didn't boil down to generic survivalism arguments about what they should or should not willingly sink to doing.
Everything after that dynamic is just them arguing over stupid pointless bullshit, or killing people, or seething about having to kill people.
Shane may have been an asshole, but he gets just enough wiggle room to internally justify everything he did. He did protect Rick by shoving the gurney in front of the hospital door, but it was impossible to transport him. He did have to leave him there, and he was reasonable concluding Rick was dead, and with Rick dead, Lori was a worthless contribution to the group accomplishing nothing of consequence, so she was in a position to find and secure a new provider.

Yeah, the farmers are gonna cut their harvest the second it can be sold. I need my spoils to lie unfallowed for months ready for my pickings. Are you dumb?

My favorite thing about these shitty movies and tv shows is how detached from reality they are. Everyone falls back on crossbows and weak shit.
Everyone and their mother would be packing an AR15 and a Glock. There's enough .223/5.56 to kill every American 10 times over.

The series addresses though. It's not so much that nobody can afford to have ammo (a major plot point is that one guy makes it with brass pots and pans), it is that the zombies have extremely far hearing and shooting one brings them toward your location. They are shown stalking helicopters from dozens of miles away. As you progressively get later into it, they switch from guns, to suppressed guns, to knives and bows. Someone firing a gun pretty much always results in the MC yelling at them, or it happens when they are fighting other humans and don't really have a choice. After someone fires a gun they pretty much always book it out of there as fast as humanly possible too

Yeah, some of the writers forgot and pulled the "hurrdurr we have no ammo" bullshit sometimes, but it is kind of understood that all the good survivors have already looted it (and ravaged pretty much every supply on every shelf in the town) and is hoarding it. The noise thing was surprisingly consistent even into very late seasons. It's just a good way to get swarmed from miles away.

Most of the conflict is found internally in the villains. The first half of the show is everyone doing exactly what Rick tells them to do because he is good at his job and it is really refreshing considering the cringe pseudo-democracy you get in most shows. It is only when Carol starts having her mental breakdowns over killing absolutely horrid people does it get kind or confusing what the point is. Shane, the Terminus survivor kid with the baseball cap, the Wolf, Phillip, Negan, Maggie, Gavin, and Alpha/Beta were just great examples of what happens to different types of people when you push them to their mental breakpoint or give them too much leverage to do what they want.

The series ended with killing off Glenn and the introduction of Negan. 18 million at the start of the season down to 11 million at the season end. The series never recovered and only produced weak numbers after. Fans were provided with only disappointment from then on.

I hated glenn

Aaron rendered Glenn's character completely irrelevant. Maggie needed to wake the fuck up. Rick needed to wake the fuck up (and actually get into a situation he can't control). Big Red probably shouldn't have been killed off but it makes sense, he is too much of a Shane to be left alive, and Daryl too overpowered to be left not imprisoned. It was masterful writing

People only hated this season because they wanted it to have its wholesome chungus the Office-style romance, which, given how dreadful the Rosita love pentagon that is about to start is, is completely understandable in retrospect. The point of this season is life fucking sucks sometimes and nobody, not even the villains, get what they want without suffering in some way. The only misstep is how they kept baiting Glenn's death prior to this season so much just to troll people for shock value instead of committing. Decent two seasons, you will not convince me otherwise. Remove season 3 and 11 and you have a solid 9/10 show

The noise thing was not ever consistent and neither is anything about the show
The zombies often shift between being strong enough to tear open horse flesh and eat it to being weak enough to not do any significant damage to characters when in direct contact
They are as strong as they are in each scene depending on plot armor
