LETS JUST SAY: Dune 3 is a huge hit and the studio wants more DUNC...how do you really end the series when Herbert never wrote an ending for the franchise >Inb4 the thinking machines are the Big Badnah
The cowards will never show the God Emperor.
>>217784118End it with a message affirming the sanctuary, purity and wholesomeness of heterosexual love, marriage for life, procreation, and instilling positive, altruistic values in your children.
>>217784118No worries there. The tragic ending and the trout suit will freak out the normies.
>>217784118I'm still not actually sure how he will make Dune Messiah as a satisfying conclusion to a blockbuster franchise, where the third entry is usually expected to be the biggest and highest stakes. The book is interesting, but so different to original Dune and basically just 5 or so characters talking about philosophy in different rooms.I enjoy it, but i'm baffled at how it will cap off a trilogy in a way that will appeal to the general viewer.
>>217784156But what if they make God Emperor and it's a smash hit !! they'd need to make more DUNC films
>>217784156Is it Leto II speaking at the beginning of both films?
>>217784354Villeneuve is hiring child actors for Leto II and Ghanima which probably means he'll try to merge Messiah and Children.
>>217784354it's going to be a much more original movietrue dune fans already know he's adapting an alternate timeline of the "hello grandfather" path that Paul explicitly foresaw and avoided in the first bookmy bet is there's a competing Kwisatz, which is why the Bene lady got preggers with Nephew in Dune 2, eating up vital screen time
>>217784679Maybe, though Children of Dune is notoriously boring and doesn't really work mixed with Messiah unless you give those children a lot of screen time and character development, which I just don't see happening.I think Messiah is a great conclusion to Paul's story - so can definitely see the tragic elements being played up a lot to form the basis of the story.I presume they will just have to have a couple of setpiece action scenes showing the jihad, then make the conspiracy against Paul a lot bigger scale than it's depicted in the books, leading to a full on assault on Arrakeen rather than just one weird little dwarf and an assassin.Either way, I am looking forward to the Stone Burner sequence - it's the only bit of the book that would actually lend itself well to a blockbuster. Also very curious to see if they go into the Duncan Idaho Axolotl stuff, or if it's deemed too weird and jarring.
