back in the day, most TV show were released yearly. Breaking Bad, another show by vince gilligan, released 5 seasons in 5 years, and was still very high quality.

now, when talking about pluribus season 2, he talks about the idea of releasing seasons yearly like it's some ridiculous moonshot.

to compare, every episode of breaking bad had a budget of 3 million, and every episode of pluribus has a budget of 15 million.

and it's not just pluribus, it seems like it's every show now.

what the hell happen? why can't they do it anymore? everything takes longer and is more expensive, and frankly it's not even as good as when it was cheaper and faster. i just don't understand.

The approach in Pluribus is a distilled Vince style. We need to have long montage sequences of people doing a task while the audience goes "omg what is going oooon" with a simple conclusion-point at the end of the sequence like it's supposed to be poignant or something. This is alright when done with restraint and for emphasis but it has become bravovince's style to do it ALL the time.

>long sequence of pudding getting made in a pudding factory before the hive mind took over
>everyone is moving like they're actually a part of the hive mind, but they're not! it's just a regular pudding factory
>we see the pudding getting made through 85 different amazingly framed shots
>the pudding is finally packaged
>smash cut to Carol opening her fridge and looking at a pudding
>the pudding reminds her of her dead lesbo ex she had zero chemistry with
>the phone rings
>"Carol would you like a pudding"
>"NO! leave me alone"
>the doorbell rings
>Carol slowly walks to the front door
>she opens the door
>there is a pudding on the doorstep
>she looks at the pudding
>she is deciding whether she wants to toss the pudding
>she is tossing the pudding
>the tossing of the pudding is meaningful to her, and us, the audience
>she regrets tossing the pudding
>she dials zero
>"bring me another pudding"
>another long montage sequence of the pudding getting prepared, similar to the first one, but now we know the hive mind is making it specifically for Carol, because the hive mind does not need puddings anymore
>the montage sequence is contrasted with the first montage sequence of the pudding being made by real people
>smash cut to Carol opening the door again
>the pudding is on the doorstep
>she tosses it again
>she won, she is better than the hive mind

etc....

The rise of streaming started at basically the same time as the end of TV’s golden age and it’s not a coincidence. They’ve already got your subscription and they’re usually a bitch to cancel so it doesn’t matter if the product is bad or it takes 3 years to make 12 episodes of a show. Networks used to churn out 24 episodes of pure gold a year because they had to fight to keep audiences invested

People care about Vince Gillian beyond the breaking bad universe because??? This two trick pony doesn’t have anything more to offer than Mike Ehrmantraut and the Salamanca family. He should go back to staff writing and spec scripts because letting him helm another crash and burn (Battle Creek) will be his demise.

is this show like an adam sandler project for vince?
an excuse to scout out a bunch of exotic locations and work (vacation) there for a few months each and shit out a bunch of drone shots every 3 years?

Unironically think he just did it to have an excuse to be around Rhea some more. Nigga’s in love

>ridiculous budget
>2 or 3 episodes worth of story dripfed over the course of a season
>season 2 is basically just the other half of season 1 they were to fucking slow to show
>"yeah, maybe we'll get around to a season 2, sometime in the next decade, don't hold your breath lmao"
Anyone that paid to watch this shit got taken for a ride. It was just made for the sake of a paycheck.

Arrogance. That's all. Just that. They feel entitled to just take their time like they are making movies, because they have developed film director egos.
