Joelbros, what went wrong? How could we let Mike steal the show from him twice?
>>
I never got the feeling that there was ever bad blood between Joel and Mike. I think Joel left the first time because he wanted to do other stuff and now he's handing the license over to someone he knows can do good with it after he took it as far as he could.

the real redpill is this shit was never funny in any iteration

>stole
Mike was a writer back when Joel was the face/star. Joel was never necessary or important.

I never watched it for the jokes. It was more the chill comfy tone I enjoyed.

It hasn't aged very well but it was definitely a comfy show to watch in the 90s. I pity the zoomers who will never experience staying up late at night channel surfing and coming across something completely novel.

It's one of the comfiest shows ever.

The closing love theme is pure comfy, it has hit me right in the feels before.

you can click into any moderately watched twitch stream and see something novel. novel weird content is not interesting or rare in 2026.

Joel thinking it was "his show" was the hubris of a young man. It can't have been easy.

That said he wasn't a young man when NuT3K rolled around, no excuse for taking part in that.

i already knew about mst3k but never watched, in the last days I saw these threads about it and I started watching it from first season(not the VHS one) I would say they're good as backgroud noise I use it in these days to fall asleep, I tought it was boring from the first episode but the Robot vs aztec mummy was really funny the commetns and the movei too is kinda entertaining, the first bit with the man of the moon or whatever with the boxing scientist was fucking hylarius.

This show is the perfect brown/zoomer/sub-100IQ filter, and I love it for that.
>>

So go watch that then, faggot. Do you think we're waiting for your approval to like this show?

Zoom away, zoomer.

Never ever ever start with season 1. Even they don't like season 1, and for the longest time refused to let it see the light of day. It's like The Simpsons, where the show didn't really find its footing until the third season, and the first two were just the crew putting the pieces together and finding their unified voice.
