Someone just hit the warp drive and I'm navigating through the fuckin' blur.
Never lay down, Ray. Not even when you're dead.
>>217788988I like to think he survives
You're playing soccer and I'm playing American Football. Two different games with the same name. Sound a little familiar, Ray? Thought so.
>>217788988Kaspere knew this. RIP in piecees
If this season was its own thing and not called True Detective I think it would've been way more fondly remembered. It's a good show but TD season 1 was so good like how could you follow that up
>>217789712>If this season was its own thing and not called True Detective I think it would've been way more fondly remembered.Sort of, but people would still have a hard time with the unconventional plot, characters, and dialogue. It's not a season for normies. Makes it even hard to get traction following season 1.
>season 1>the two main detectives go on a very mysterious mystery that lasts decades and become better people after learning more about themselves and being reflective about their past beliefs >season 2>everyone dies and the girls run away to Mexico or something, also Caspere knew this
>>217789780>everyone dies and the girls run away to Mexico or something, also Caspere knew thisthey also got a proper resolution like Rust and Marty.
>>217789846Rachel McAdam's character definitely didn't get a definitive ending. Ray and the gay cop just died.
They say good things come to those who wait. Here's the thing, Ray: I've been waiting my whole life in the wrong line because I'm retarded.
I've been told that the pen is mightier than the sword, Ray. Well, I'm a fuckin HP42069 Super WriteBot, faggot.
>>217788893>I live in a dog eat dog world Ray, and animal control has come to clean out the neighborhood.
>Ray while you were barkin up the wrong tree somebody cut down the right tree turned it into paper and printed your fuckin obituary on it
>>217789712Season 1 accidentally tapped into the zeitgeist of the people when we were all beginning to suspect that our rulers were actually a cabal of stupid satanic pedophiles who were just handed power by their forebears. Season 2 is a stereotypical normieshit show because the creators either didn't understand why people liked the first season or they did and they intentionally sabotaged its legacy because they accidentally riled up the masses. Pic related.
the show having 4 main protagonists was pointlessI can get what they were going for with the neo-noir thing but then it should've just been vince vaughn and ray. They bloated it for no real reason but never once achieved the level of mystery, conspiracy, and tension of s1. S3 was at least kind of close.anyways>Your either the fucker or the fucked in this world, ray. And me? I'm the tranny in the women's prison
>>217790254kek
it's a dog eat dog world ray, and i'm chinese
It's not you, Ray. Because I'm Ray. And that son of yours? He's going to be more than a stingray vs a crocodile hunter.
They say a broken clock is right twice a day. Well Ray all I've got is a fuckin' sundial and I only work the night shift
They say too many cooks spoil the broth Ray, well I'm on the seafood diet and all I see are empty plates
i like season 2. ray is a good character.
Casper knew deez nuts
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but I died 100 feet ago and I'm still walking, ray.
The salad didn't get tossed and yet all I have are scrambled eggs.
>>217788893>Who said life ain't fair, Ray? It's a giant ferris wheel and we're the hamsters. And Capsere knew this!
this is probably vaughns greatest role
>>217790301>stereotypical normieshit >Shows how hippie new age cults are connected with the elite and used in child trafficking>Shows epstein parties meant to compromise politicians>Shows MK-ultra like trauma inflicted in childhood>Even with twins which if you've looked into the Epstein files you know it's significantFunny that you call it normieshit when you watch it and all you can take away from it is a regular cop show. Almost as if you only know what most normal people know?
>>217788893You know, growing up motherfuckers always told me that, "It takes one to know one." Well, I just put two and two together and realized that Three's fucking Company. Kaspere knew this.
>they say no man is an island, Ray, but I'm feeling pretty fucking deserted right now
>>217792658agree
>>217790301Season 2 is about Jeffrey Epstein getting murdered and all the "elites" shitting a brick
>>217792812>twins?
>Ray, they say when you play roulette to always bet on black. Well, I can't do that because I hate niggers.
>I was too eager, Ray. First man over the parapet gets a sword through the face. The early bird gets the worms.
>Things are hot, hot, hot, Ray. I need you to turn on the air conditioning
>>217792812it doesn't have the non-linear narrative which is what made seasons 1 and 3 good
>>217790347I completely disagree. I like the larger cast and I actually think S2 is more tense than S1 ever was. It feels like there's a real, oppressive threat hanging over their heads. I didn't get that feeling from S1 at all. There was no real threat to Marty and Rust as far as their day to day lives went. In S2, everyone's actions have serious consequences and their arcs all end with the manifestation of those consequences. I also found each character to be compelling. Woodrough was probably the least interesting but he wasn't bad either.
>>217789875I'm okay with Bezzerides not getting a "definitive" ending because her arc is driven by the consequences of her actions and where she ends up is really the only place she could have ended up aside from dead. Woodrough's past catches up with him. Ray dies because it's the only thing left for him. It's a bitter ending but it's all informed by what came before and while it may not be "satisfying" for some people it's not bad writing by any means.
>>217789646Barz
>>217788893Caspere knew this
>>217795247Apparently they're regular siblings. My bad>>217795368>Season 1>Good because of the non-linearity>Season 3>Good
>>217789712S2 is also harmed by being released weekly, I rewatched it recently but binged it instead and it becomes a good deal easier to follow, although admittedly I knew the story, and helps skip over the slow early episodes.
>>217795758it's better than 2
>>217790254That's good.
>>217795419yeah spot on, there's a gradually increasing feeling of dread/anxiety/suffocation/loss of control etc. and you cant really put your finger on it, whereas s1 forces you into it with le lousiana swamp voodoo ritual atmosphere. 3rd rewatch left me kind of depressed for a few days, but was also the best. you come to the realization that shit like this really does happen; another frank will take his place, another caspere will get whacked and another rail project scam will go down. rust knew this. but hey, who am i to care
>>217795810ntaNah: it's a "fuck you" for fans of season 1 and yet a rehash, full of red-hearings and a shitty twist ending.
>>217795810Season 3 is uninspired competence, season 2 is an interesting miss. There's a reason why 2 is talked about way more than 3 which in comparison is puddle deep.
I finally watched season 1. All the /tv memes are from the first episode. I'm convinced no one watched it beyond the pilot
Vincent posting was always the highest iq meme there was, which is why modern anons can't do it
No Mexican stepped in the Rio grande twice Ray: because he is not the same man and its not the same river. Casper knew this.
>>217795810Season 2 was a joke. I remember nothing except for the scene with the white guy hanging out with a dog and fighting in a bar, a pink room somewhere I think? and a black guy dating a white chick and making a big deal out of it. Great tv.I did make myself chuckle upon re-reading "I remember nothing", yes
>>217789875True. It was bleak as fuck.Still kino though. Also somehow even though I loved S1 it still didn’t too S2 for me because it nailed that gritty corrupt vibe real well and S1 had too many questions left unanswered, threads going nowhere.
>>217790553I dont get it, is his sundial broken?
>>217790254Based/tv/ should write a movie
>>217795225Must’ve been why it wasn’t critically acclaimed
>Some people say it's not the size of the boat but rather the motion of the ocean. Well guess what, Ray? I can't even swim. >Never even had a bath.
>>217796045So you fixated on the unimportant shit and glazed over the literal Hollywood pedo cult worshipping Satan and drugs. Great
>I don’t fucking eat cakes. I’ve never even had a cavity.. what way is that to greet the world? What did he mean by this?
>>217796103Was there a cult in season 2? Pretty sure it was all just material theft and corruption.
Vince posting is just idioms with a ", Casper knew this" suffix.
They say that shit rolls downhill. But I'm in an uphill battle with time, and it's pissing me off.
>>217796103>>217796045Clearly I meant season 3. Nah I'm the anon who loves and defends s2
>>217796153the >implication is that material theft, corruption and speculative land development is the actual shadowy cult stuff, with cult aesthetics being the palatable facade. they hint at it with the animal masks and snuff movies but it's more like a callback to season 1 and how season 2 wont be entertaining that kind of narrative
>>217796222Naeh there's more to it.
>>217796153The occult themes in s2 were more overtly tied to the Mexican cartel, but the elites do mention at some point "deals being best done under a full moon", so clearly it's still there, just not in your face. There's also the element of Ani's dad's cult, and how his hippie days made her hypersexual and her sister a hooker. But yeah, S2 deals more with material stuff: Black Mountain wink wink, Hollywood connections, elite sex parties etc, things which are just as relevant as overtly satanic cults, if not more so.
>>217790301>pic relatedFilteredThe first movie was TRVELY a call to arms for the lonely and alienated, for lack of a better word- 'gamers', to RISE UP but half a decade passed and people are more docile than ever. Joaquin's Joker inspired at most they/them teens and Indians making joker tick tock parodies. His vision of gamers RISING UP to take down oppressive power structures is nowhere to be seen. The ending says it all: the sensitive softboy uwu joaquin joker must die; the radical heath joker must live. This movie should not be interpreted as Todd's abandonment of his gamer children BUT of our inability to measure up to his pure higher ideals. Todd did not fail. We failed Todd
>>217789673holy fuck is that Chad?
>>217789780Yeah i think the ending of s2 was bad. Everyone just dies and the women go to mexico and...might vaguely do....something.S1 gets better as it goes, whereas S2 starts strong but sputters out
>>217796222you just revealed your own ignorance
>>217797233you've been watching too much marvel, the good guys dont always live and win and dont always kill the big bad at the end.getting out alive with rays son was a good bittersweet ending. paul, ray and frank died badly because they were too preoccupied with their pasts, they didn't know when to let go. sticking together in south america and going wikileaks was really the only thing ani & jordan could have donethe ending was fine and much more memorable than 2 faggots hugging it out at the hospital after barely scratching the surface of the problem. s1 was meh, the only real problem with s2 was the multitude of names and references
>>217797619casper knew this
>>217789656made me laugh out loud, good post
Seeing all these reminds me of a parable, but you know what Ray? Fuck parables.
>>217789656he probably didn't
>>217788893Caspar knew this
>>217788893>"Fit as a fiddle?" Well, I'm a goddamn Stradivarius, and no one's stringing me along.
Take a good look at this Ray. It's a fucking jungle out there. And, guess what, I'm the lion and lions never flush.
>>217788893>Frank and Ray teaming up to assault the russians>Woodrugh taking down the mercspure kino, ending was way too bleak though
>>217799839it's kind of like the wire
>>217799839His death was so kino
>>217789656he did. he's a new man looking at his past self
>>217801085Goodbyes are like love letters, you write them down with one intention but really mean the other. You know Ray, I know love and wish it didn't have a goodbye. Caspere knew this.
>listen up Ray, they say there's a little guy that lives in a blue world.... Well I've been here all day and all night, the only one feeling blue is me>Caspere dubba dee dubba die>dubba dee dubba die>dubba dee dubba die
>be gay>mom's a thieving trailer park trash whore>reject your own faggotry, get married to and bleach a qtlatina>sacrifice yourself for the greater good and die a truly honorable deathWhy is gaycop the most underrated character of the series?
>>217800340All 3 deaths are kino. But Ray is the best one imo, he accepts it's inevitable and goes out blasting.
>>217801735hes a faggot
>>217801735When you put it that way yeah, he was pretty based, honestly.
Season 1 was just the Franklin Scandal beat for beat. Somebody in that writing room read the book and put it to the main screen.
