In movies, characters usually have character arcs since the events they go through change them and they are a different character at the end of the film.In long t.v. series, characters change slowly or remain who they are for quite a long while. So an abrasive doctor who solves medical problems starts out that way at the beginning and ends up that way at the end of the season while encountering different scenarios in between.
