I'm just simply not interested in nuTrek. I still have Voyager/ENT to watch, I have so many other things to watch as well. It just looks like every other streaming drizzling shit that gets forgotten after 4 months.

You can blast out loud how critically acclaimed something is for only so long as it slips completely out of the normie's mind. My own family is in the nest of constant slop, they're always telling me to watch something then I ask them how it was months later & they can't remember a thing about the show.

Don't you fret, I've already downed all of TOS & might even start it again after my DS9 with Companion book rewatch.

Spent the last couple of years going on a physical media spree on the hunch that everyone would eventually turn on streaming. Issues with Paramount politically or their dipshit streaming service? Doesn't matter, got it all on disc, even Twilight Zone at this point.

once you watch all of classic trek it becomes a benchmark for other scifis
by that i mean most scifi shows were made to follow the trek formula or to deny it outright to do something new, but all of them were written knowing star trek loomed over them
so you have a variety to choose from like bab5 that resemble trek in format but is largely original to wild shows that are off the walls like farscape or lexx

I liked the episode where he loses his faith in the afterlife and then just never gets it back, underneath that irritatingly positive exterior lies a damaged man. Drag queens are ugly men pretending to be pretty women.
To be perfectly honest it's akin to blackface, it's a minstrel show that's lampooning sex instead of race and the homosexuals must be doing it out of a deep hatred of women and internalized sense of misogyny,
>>
When did drag queens become this whole movement anyway? It used to be silly fun
>>
The black & white faced TOS episode is great due to the ending where their entire world is dead and they both go down there to die fighting to the death. Sometimes, you can't beat your inner hatreds and give in completely.

God, TOS is so good. Acting is good enough, the main 3 are the best. But the writing is just otherworldly at points. Just hitting the right tones of imagination.

Is season 3 of TOS the worst season? I know it's 1968 but they started experimenting with weird 1970's style camera angles and zoom functions, then every episode with Scotty where he has slicked back hair is guaranteed to be bad.

They also started having A and B plots in this season along with starting to have episodes where things just happen instead of them having any greater meaning. Instead of something like slavery bad we get these guys sure are assholes for no real reason.

You also have that native american episode where Kirk knocks up a native after losing his memory then she dies and he's all like, ok well bye and just fucks off after ruining this entire society.

How good is TAS? I've only seen The Slaver Weapon, which I only watched because I learned that it was a direct adaptation of Larry Niven's short story that wound up being part of the Ringworld series. It's by far the worst because NBC started meddling to boost ratings. When they saw the show wasn't what they wanted, they cut the budget and let it die. It was only until the show hit syndication did it build a following.
>>
>>217799524
Yeah but that's only because the first two seasons, and extra especially the first, are top tier all time best sci fi seasons ever.

There's so many other forgotten to time never to be seen again shows that never even got to where season 3 TOS got. Still incredible in places, The Enterprise Incident is great, sets up the action comedy possibilities of the films by showing Casanova Spock.

Anons need to realise a show like TNG, DS9 or VOY can never happen again. Streaming has destroyed television and viewing habits have changed. Studios will not do planet of the week stories anymore. Every being has to be serialised and part of an ongoing narrative. It’s hard to do exploring space stories hopping around without consequence because everything has to be urgent and serious.

Same. I partly blame my zoomer brain but also because TOS is so ingrained in modern pop culture that when I watched episodes of it for the first time, felt like I’ve seen it a hundred times before. I appreciate it for what it is, has done for sci fi, tv and Trek in general but I cannot say I enjoy it as a tv show to watch.

That would explain the episode with the giant empty sound stage and like 4 props with old Twilight Zone costumes.

>if a production company took a chance
Which is the problem because they don’t. They’re all incredibly risk averse so they don’t do anything that isn’t metric approved successes as determined by their committee boards. Streaming gives those people accurate, instant and continuous figures on viewer habits and if they see that something is not retaining viewers they drop it instantly. Star Trek ironically is one that could do this as it has brand name recognition but you need competent people
>>
>>217799815
Voyager takes place at the same time as DS9 but they don't really overlap at all except right in the very beginning, both continue after TNG so TNG dudes make appearances in Voyager towards the end.

The writers probably extended an offer for Brooks to come back but he told them to pound sand. The voice clip they used was ripped off from a jazz album he did This is how I found out Avery Brooks is a Jazz artist. So they accidently enforced a black stereotype for the second time in a row.
>>
Why doesn't anyone in Star Trek have a TV?
Except for that one time B'Elanna made one for Tom Paris as a gift, I haven't seen a single star trek tv.

Of course the novels provide a better version of events:
>Sisko does return in time for the birth of his and Kasidy's daughter, but he experiences an existential crisis as he feels the Prophets chewed him up and spat him out, so he rejoins Starfleet and becomes more distant from his family. Also his daughter, Rebecca, keeps getting kidnapped by Bajoran cultists. Turns out later on that she has some kind of power over time travel/non-linear fuckery but CBS put the kibosh on the novelverse before the authors could expand on it more

What the hell did you just say about me, you little Pakled? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at Starfleet Academy, and I’ve been involved in numerous classified training simulations, and I have over 300 confirmed holodeck completions.

I am trained in zero-G combat, xenolinguistics, and temporal ethics, and I’m the top cadet in my entire cohort. You are nothing to me but another entry in my personal log.

I will out-debate you with a level of Federation-approved precision the likes of which has never been seen on this quadrant, mark my words. You think you can get away with saying that on subspace? Think again, ensign.

As we speak, I am contacting my network of instructors, admirals, and slightly disappointed Vulcan professors, and your academic record is being reviewed right now, so you’d better prepare for the inquiry. The inquiry that wipes out the pathetic little reputation you call your posting history.

You’re on report, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can cite Starfleet regulations in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just from memory.

Not only am I extensively trained in diplomatic conflict resolution, but I have access to the entire Federation database, and I will use it to its full extent to politely but thoroughly dismantle your argument.

If only you could have known what interstellar consequences your “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have checked your tone.

But you couldn’t. You didn’t. And now you’re facing remedial ethics training.

**Qapla’nt.**

There is definitely a change in pacing and how much story they put into S3 episodes. A lot of filler with the away team doing stuff or in some trouble, and the rest of the crew back on the ship trying to get back to them or having their own problem. You also get a lot of reiteration or questioning a statement right after it was said.

But it does have a few good episodes, The Enterprise Incident, Day Of The Dove, and a personal fav The Tholian Web (Space Madness tm).
>>
>>217802068

>>217800586
Even if it fell out of fashion you'd still think there'd be people who'd be interested in the art form of film/TV. Like they still do plays and there's obviously a fair amount of crossover.

Even if it was strictly for historical interest of someone who's just interested in the 20th Century which means you'd see some people still dabbling in it or watching it to better understand them.

>>
>>217802430
They didn't fly it into the wormhole, they just were basically using the station as a Federation watchtower, that being said before they got the Defiant I highly doubt they could've mounted any real defense of the wormhole if hostile forces jumped on them.

>>
>>217802334
I like the characters and I have fun watching it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, unlike Picard or STD, but it does take the franchise seriously. It does not mess with canon like most of the other nuTrek shows do and to the extent it can be said to I can usually write it off as cartoon logic. They have lots of callbacks, references, cameos, but unlike in STD, PIC, or ACK it doesn’t use them as a crutch or “the reason you watch.” Much like old trek the focus is more on its original characters and settings. Also the creator is on record as hating STD.

Are there any other trek protagonists that hate each other?
O'Brien thought Julian was annoying at fist but eventually fell in love with him

I've been watching DS9 for the first time and was surprised when Tuvok showed up in the mirrorverse as a Terran freedom fighter, I didn't expect to see him there.
