star trek sex with shran
I am far from the posts of my ancestors
Is /trek/ the most autistic thread on the site?My favorite star trek is NG.
The shills are swarming like Jem'Hadar fighters today.
Is ACK is tied with Lower Decks for worst NuTrek show?
The most recent Star Trek show I've watched was Enterprise and I refuse to watch anything made after it.

>>217797854As autistic as it gets in here, /who/ and /got/are worse.
I don't watch ACK. I'm currently enjoying DS9 and VOY

>>217797924That's because those shows have always been shit. I have more respect for star wars fans.
>>217798011The Sheliak were unfathomably based for addressing The Federation as "Federation Creatures" and demanding the humans to be removed. They saw humanity and other races as pests. A very redpilled species indeed.

Just watched the Enterprise finale and oh my god what Kino
the entire conflict of DS9 could've been prevented if they'd just collapsed the wormhole the first time the dominion kicked the shit out of them, but they sacrificed millions of lives in a war instead because uh uhh exploration
>>217798149Yeah Terra Prime is pretty solid.
>Alexander Hilary Kurtzman (born September 7, 1973) is an American filmmaker. He made his directorial debut with People Like Us (2012), co-written alongside Orci and Jody Lambert.Jesus wept
>>217798149They should have hired Manny Coto as head writer a lot sooner than they did.
>>217798155The Federation should have made a deal with the Dominion. If only that had some legendary peace maker that could have made it happen...
I'm just simply not interested in nuTrek. I still have Voyager/ENT to watch, I have so many other things to watch as well. It just looks like every other streaming drizzling shit that gets forgotten after 4 months. You can blast out loud how critically acclaimed something is for only so long as it slips completely out of the normie's mind. My own family is in the nest of constant slop, they're always telling me to watch something then I ask them how it was months later & they can't remember a thing about the show.
>>217798315Agreed but ACK isn't that critically acclaimed though.
>>217798315Good for you friend. There's so much older stuff out there to watch. Modern slop sucks.
you fucking faggots talk about nutrek more than anyone who actually watches it
>>217798375Don't you fret, I've already downed all of TOS & might even start it again after my DS9 with Companion book rewatch.Spent the last couple of years going on a physical media spree on the hunch that everyone would eventually turn on streaming. Issues with Paramount politically or their dipshit streaming service? Doesn't matter, got it all on disc, even Twilight Zone at this point.
>>217798422I'm considering buying Twilight Zone and X-Files on physical is streaming gets further enshittified.
>>217798376"teach the controversy"
Don’t bully me but I’m watching Academy whilst going through the older shows and I haven’t gotten to DS9 yet, still on Voyager, and how much did the latest episode of Academy spoil DS9 for me?

>>217798475It’s just background watching for me and I’m comparing both new and old trek at the sameTime.
>>217798315once you watch all of classic trek it becomes a benchmark for other scifisby that i mean most scifi shows were made to follow the trek formula or to deny it outright to do something new, but all of them were written knowing star trek loomed over themso you have a variety to choose from like bab5 that resemble trek in format but is largely original to wild shows that are off the walls like farscape or lexx

>>217798538Where does Battelstar Galactica and Doctor Who fall on this spectrum?
>>217798538Western sci-fi. Anime sci-fi really doesn't acknowledge Star Trek too much if at all.I hate it when people ignore half of the globe when talking about fiction.
>>217798459How can you even stand to watch a show with characters this ugly? Even TOS knew sex sells and people tune in for the babes.
>>217798592>anime>half the globeuhhh are you sure about that? Japan is a tiny island nation.
>>217798567truthbut anime scifi is like 50% mecha>>217798573old doctor who is very much like TOS, cheesy production but lots of soul (the theatre culture of the english really shines through)battlestar galactica is greati havent seen the classic but the reboot is a wild ride VERY fast paced show and VERY dense plot, well written and well acted all around>>217798592im not japanese anondo you get annoyed when japanese ignore western scifi too or is this a one way street?
>>217798459It spoils the entire season 5, 6, and 7 meta-arc, the Sisko Emissary trilogy, and the final 4 episodes. So you're basically fine to watch it since you won't reach those episodes for months.

>>217798843So hatewatching causes people to interact with the IP instead of the IP having well thought out stories with engaging characters. Great. At this point it feels like more people in /trek/ have seen RLM talk about DS9 than people who have actually seen DS9.

>>217799062IN THIS ECONOMY?!

This thing and its anus mouth is terrifying
Just quirky sci-fi adventures in space u guise.
>>217799215I agree and it looks even worse in HD>>217799223Star Trek always had political messages but it wasn't every episode and it was usually behind a wall of aliens and robots.

>>217799175I always liked Neelix, he's less annoying than anons like to say. I liked the episode where he loses his faith in the afterlife and then just never gets it back, underneath that irritatingly positive exterior lies a damaged man. I liked VOY more than ENT but that's my own bias, ENT is still plenty good fun and I liked how much the ship reminded me of a navy vessel instead of the sleek futuristic look of the Enterprise D.
>>217799384>zoomers don't know about Pickle SurpriseOh god 4chan's getting oldhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=3GhN7v5SoGs
>>217799427Drag queens are ugly men pretending to be pretty women. To be perfectly honest it's akin to blackface, it's a minstrel show that's lampooning sex instead of race and the homosexuals must be doing it out of a deep hatred of women and internalized sense of misogyny,
When did drag queens become this whole movement anyway? It used to be silly fun
The black & white faced TOS episode is great due to the ending where their entire world is dead and they both go down there to die fighting to the death. Sometimes, you can't beat your inner hatreds and give in completely.God, TOS is so good. Acting is good enough, the main 3 are the best. But the writing is just otherworldly at points. Just hitting the right tones of imagination.
>>217799468>homosexuals must be doing it out of a deep hatred of women and internalized sense of misogyny,B A S E DASED
>>217797804Is season 3 of TOS the worst season? I know it's 1968 but they started experimenting with weird 1970's style camera angles and zoom functions, then every episode with Scotty where he has slicked back hair is guaranteed to be bad. They also started having A and B plots in this season along with starting to have episodes where things just happen instead of them having any greater meaning. Instead of something like slavery bad we get these guys sure are assholes for no real reason. You also have that native american episode where Kirk knocks up a native after losing his memory then she dies and he's all like, ok well bye and just fucks off after ruining this entire society.
52 years old. Watched every trek. This is so awful I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes I fast forwarded . Worst then that section 31 movie. I can't do it any more. I've removed it from my watch list. Rip trek. Still.. at least I have the old stuff. Fucking hell, who would have thought Berman and Braga would be peak trek.

>>217799501>God, TOS is so goodHow good is TAS? I've only seen The Slaver Weapon, which I only watched because I learned that it was a direct adaptation of Larry Niven's short story that wound up being part of the Ringworld series. I watched it right after reading that part in the series and it was way better than I'd expected TAS to be. Are the other episodes as good?
>>217799524It's by far the worst because NBC started meddling to boost ratings. When they saw the show wasn't what they wanted, they cut the budget and let it die. It was only until the show hit syndication did it build a following.
>>217799524Yeah but that's only because the first two seasons, and extra especially the first, are top tier all time best sci fi seasons ever. There's so many other forgotten to time never to be seen again shows that never even got to where season 3 TOS got. Still incredible in places, The Enterprise Incident is great, sets up the action comedy possibilities of the films by showing Casanova Spock.
>>217799526>>217799541Legens of The Hidden Temple Olmec head lookin ass
I wish I liked TOS more.
Anons need to realise a show like TNG, DS9 or VOY can never happen again. Streaming has destroyed television and viewing habits have changed. Studios will not do planet of the week stories anymore. Every being has to be serialised and part of an ongoing narrative. It’s hard to do exploring space stories hopping around without consequence because everything has to be urgent and serious.
>>217799524It's definitely the weakest out of the three. Even the good episodes had some goofy cinematography choices at moments.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=y5cW1PrvKgQ
>>217799632Everything I wanted in TOS I found in TNG/DS9 so I just enjoy the show for what it was and when it was made.
>>217799524>filtered by kiroc kinofor shame
>>217799632Same. I partly blame my zoomer brain but also because TOS is so ingrained in modern pop culture that when I watched episodes of it for the first time, felt like I’ve seen it a hundred times before. I appreciate it for what it is, has done for sci fi, tv and Trek in general but I cannot say I enjoy it as a tv show to watch.
>>217799598That would explain the episode with the giant empty sound stage and like 4 props with old Twilight Zone costumes.
>>217799639Film is probably going to be fine but TV is wrecked & dead. It's not like anyone wants to learn characterization for a show they're just gonna forget about when the next show comes out.
>>217799681That's known as the Superman problem, there's other properties that have the same issue because literally everything is lifted from them, like DUNE.
>>217799579The rest of TAS is... not as good. There's some episodes that take themselves seriously, but most of it is wacky Saturday morning cartoon fare.
>>217799734>>217799579Bem
>>217799639This is bullshit and if a production company took a chance and made a planet of the week show people would watch it.
>>217798920I always wonder, are they just writing disingenuous propaganda/marketing, or are they genuinely have such a tiny IQ that they can't grasp that people don't dispute these shows were progressive, they're disputing that whatever deranged bullshit has been forcefed into them is.
>>217799526It's about killing fans.
Just finished DS9. Is it worth watching Voyager and other newer series or should I finish watching TOS instead? Kind of leaning towards TOS
>>217799800the "deranged bullshit" you cry about is just black people being in it
>>217799814Die already then.
>>217799798>if a production company took a chance Which is the problem because they don’t. They’re all incredibly risk averse so they don’t do anything that isn’t metric approved successes as determined by their committee boards. Streaming gives those people accurate, instant and continuous figures on viewer habits and if they see that something is not retaining viewers they drop it instantly. Star Trek ironically is one that could do this as it has brand name recognition but you need competent people
>>217799815Voyager takes place at the same time as DS9 but they don't really overlap at all except right in the very beginning, both continue after TNG so TNG dudes make appearances in Voyager towards the end. TOS and Voyager are very similar shows
>>217799852Eat any good books lately?
>>217799815YOU HAVE TO WATCH TNG NOW
>>217799819DS9 had a black main character and that is the most loved show here.
>>217799861>They're all incredibly risk averseI agree somewhat but I think the real problem is the studios only make things for the 18-24 year old audience who doesn't watch TV. If they made Trek shows for aging boomer and GenX trek fans those people would watch it.
>>217799913And he was nuts to boot.
>>217799711Studios can't release 8 episodes every two years and expect us to care what happens to the characters. It also hurts storytelling efficiency because the first episode after a long break is an extended recap, with the plot inching briefly at the end.

But I will be back.>KASIDY: And I will be waiting.Nutrek:>JAKE: He never actually came back, but once in a while we were sure we felt his presence :)Of course the novels provide a better version of events:>Sisko does return in time for the birth of his and Kasidy's daughter, but he experiences an existential crisis as he feels the Prophets chewed him up and spat him out, so he rejoins Starfleet and becomes more distant from his family. Also his daughter, Rebecca, keeps getting kidnapped by Bajoran cultists. Turns out later on that she has some kind of power over time travel/non-linear fuckery but CBS put the kibosh on the novelverse before the authors could expand on it more

I thought it was sort of in your face that all 3 in the Fire Caves fight died that day but only Kai Winn truly died. Sisko got to ascend to true Wormhole God status & Dukat was sent to Pah-Wraith hell with the rest of them.

>>217797854What the hell did you just say about me, you little Pakled? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at Starfleet Academy, and I’ve been involved in numerous classified training simulations, and I have over 300 confirmed holodeck completions.I am trained in zero-G combat, xenolinguistics, and temporal ethics, and I’m the top cadet in my entire cohort. You are nothing to me but another entry in my personal log.I will out-debate you with a level of Federation-approved precision the likes of which has never been seen on this quadrant, mark my words. You think you can get away with saying that on subspace? Think again, ensign. As we speak, I am contacting my network of instructors, admirals, and slightly disappointed Vulcan professors, and your academic record is being reviewed right now, so you’d better prepare for the inquiry. The inquiry that wipes out the pathetic little reputation you call your posting history. You’re on report, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can cite Starfleet regulations in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just from memory. Not only am I extensively trained in diplomatic conflict resolution, but I have access to the entire Federation database, and I will use it to its full extent to politely but thoroughly dismantle your argument. If only you could have known what interstellar consequences your “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have checked your tone. But you couldn’t. You didn’t. And now you’re facing remedial ethics training.**Qapla’nt.**
>>217799524There is definitely a change in pacing and how much story they put into S3 episodes. A lot of filler with the away team doing stuff or in some trouble, and the rest of the crew back on the ship trying to get back to them or having their own problem. You also get a lot of reiteration or questioning a statement right after it was said. But it does have a few good episodes, The Enterprise Incident, Day Of The Dove, and a personal fav The Tholian Web (Space Madness tm).
>>217802068By who? Why? Elaborate.
>>217800586Even if it fell out of fashion you'd still think there'd be people who'd be interested in the art form of film/TV. nuTrek is cheeks but I actually like Lower Decks

>>217802335Dude, where's my starship?
>>217802235Yeah, it's like one of those things that you think makes them sound sophisticated but you take like 10 seconds to think about it and it's retarded. It'd be like if they went "We've progressed beyond the need of arbitrary physical excercise competition." like sports was just going to disappear once the warp drive existed.
>>217802366A starbase seems more comfy. Although I question their decision to fly the entire thing into a random wormhole just because.
>>217802430They didn't fly it into the wormhole, they just were basically using the station as a Federation watchtower, that being said before they got the Defiant I highly doubt they could've mounted any real defense of the wormhole if hostile forces jumped on them.
>>217802416As Worf himself said, "If winning is not important, commander, why keep score?"
>>217799449>I always liked Neelix, he's less annoying than anons like to say.Neelix starts off annoying shitbag and stays that way far too long, until his character development starts but it was too little too late. I liked the episode where he meets the alien doctor that developed the WMD that destroyed his home world. Both actors brought their A game in that episode
>>217802334I like the characters and I have fun watching it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, unlike Picard or STD, but it does take the franchise seriously. It does not mess with canon like most of the other nuTrek shows do and to the extent it can be said to I can usually write it off as cartoon logic. They have lots of callbacks, references, cameos, but unlike in STD, PIC, or ACK it doesn’t use them as a crutch or “the reason you watch.” Much like old trek the focus is more on its original characters and settings. Also the creator is on record as hating STD.
