for space nerds and alternative history nerds its pretty coolthat is, if you are able to ignore a lot of the political stuff, which i am mostly agreeable to ignore due to the social context making sense when it comes to the time the show is inlike i found extremely based how nasa made a woman (and a black woman too) go to the moon explicitly to panderthe only stuff i genuinly skip is the lesbiansbut ignoring all of that, i really like the characters, like ed baldwin and gordo, and the tension with the soviets is pretty cool too
>>217802753it detours into obnoxious soap opera partway through season 2 and then never rises back upgod forbid there's a cool space show that appeals exclusively to men, fuck no we have to put all kinds of dumb drama shit and love triangles in it so women might watch too
>>217802797well im at ep 5 of season 2 so idk, but all the political stuff i have seen up until now felt really forced, like they were checking boxes, which makes me think that the writers were extremely based but had to add those just so apple would let the show go outeven in season 1 i think there was a bit of a problem with drama distracting us from the cool space stuff
>>217802753>pretty cool>that is, if you are able to ignore a lot of the political stuffHuh it's just like The Pitt
Who would shill this garbage? Imagine having a show about an alternative history space race and replace all the real life historical astronauts with women and black people, focus on shitty drama and has absolutely no screen time for interest historical figures like Von Braun, Korolev, Glushko etcThis is a literal show for women that likea shitty melodrama. Not space nerds. Seeing Tom Stafford in the Apollo-Soyuz mission being replaced with some homo erectus throwback sheboon was hilarious though.
>>217802945i agree with you on the melodrama but i think i like how most of the characters are not real historical figures, i wish there were more, but i think it would be kind of distracting if all of them were historical figuresi do like the presidents tho, and how much the space race affects them
>>217802753It's a show for women like all modern tv showsLiterally not a single modern tv show is made for men
>>217802753I never watched it myself but I watch SFDebris reviews of it and it seems ok.
>>217802797yeah, part of the problem is the political stuff becomes important to the plot and ruins the show. the idea that a lesbian president could come out during their term in office in the early 90s is absurd. But even the non-political politics in the show is retarded like all the scifi power plants that are putting people out of business, nobody fucking cares when blue collar people lose jobs ever except themselves it would not be a political issue that matters.though at the end of season 3 a blind woman runs back into an exploded building and presumably dies by falling out the side of it.Really it all starts with that horrible mexican protegee. she represents the rock stupid logic and an almost religious devotion to shifting the blame that the entire show has from season 3 onward.and don't get me started on the drill explosion and how everyone drilling on the ground could see the exact same numbers that the people in the control room could see and the second in command was still there as well and not one of them did anything to stop it but it's the fault of the guy who left to go to the bathroom because he was doing drugs. just pure retard "we don't really watch our own show" style of lazy soap opera conflict.
>>217802845as the show goes on, the little montage at the beginning comes up with more and more contrived reasons for the USSR to still exist past 1991, in the show they actually turned a large amount of Central America and even Mexico communist by the 90s
