I'm going to start working on a ship soon so I'm saving a bunch of movies, tv, and anime to my laptop since I won't have good internet for 6 months. Looking for some suggestions. I haven't seen a lot of staple stuff so I don't mind any recommendations that seem basic.

>>217803440As someone who has worked on ships, comedies are important. Take any movie or TV show that will lift your spirits. There will be times when that is essential.

>>217806099ffs, find the website for 'sealiftcommand' and read it. They also have local & online job fairs. Entry level is Wiper (engine room) or Deck (topside)
>>217806069Pretty much but if you're serious about it I'd recommend starting yesterday because it's a pretty lengthy process. It took me like a year from start to finish because I had to get some medical stuff cleared on top of all the other hoops you have to wait to jump thru, and that was AFTER I already had all my creds and stuff. Def try to check out one of their recruiting events if there's one nearby, they'll tell you everything you need to get to start working (mmc, twic, med cert, etc.)

>>217806582God, modern bureaucracy sucks so fucking bad. I long for the days when you could just start a new life on a ship with a bunch of fellow ne’re-do-wells.
>>217806644There's always the navy. I'd imagine it's a lot easier to get in.
