Will Disney ever bring back traditional animation?
>>
they'll release a shitty ai film mimicking 2d traditional animation within the decade. it'll bomb, and they'll use that as justification for never doing traditional animation again.
>>
>>217806338
Is it just me who immediately associated the green in the thumbnail with a brap cloud?
>>
>>217806361
It'll be like when they released Princess and The Frog within a week of Avatar. Or when they released Winnie the Pooh alongside the final Harry Potter film.
>>
>>
>>217806364
Probably. You seem fucking stupid.

If they did it would just suck ass for a different reason

it has to be on par with aladdin

or no one will care

That's good, Aladdin was one of their cheaper films to make. In today's dollars the budget would be about $65 million, which is 1/3 of what they spend on each remake and 3DCG film.
>>
>>217806518
can't wait for this youtube video essay
>The Unbearable Whiteness of Disney's Aladdin
>>
>>217806557
There's already that one Tumblr post about how he 'gets whiter' after becoming a prince only for it to actually be fanart where he's being blown by Hercules
>>
They could start with a hand-drawn animated short, but they're pretty all-in on doing short 30-second commercials with AI. I think they had a cartoon about staying indoors with Goofy that appeared on Disney+ during the pandemic?
>>
>>217806600
I'd rather get it from Megara or Mulan.

no. They tried to, and if flopped.

Yeah, couldn't have been any other reason that one flopped

To be fair did people know Avatar was going to be a huge hit?
>>
>>217806768
It was a James Cameron film.
>>
They should hire Naoko Yamada as a director
>>
>>217806768
James Cameron has a fantastic track record.
>>
>>217806768
yes.

it was the most hyped and shilled movie in several years. even if you had zero interest in seeing it, it was obvious tons of people were oging to.

It flopped because it was bland. The villain was the most kino aspect of the whole movie and he's in it for what, five minutes?

ten, but it's still nonsense. he was far and away the most interesting disney villain in a disney movie since frollo in hunchback, and he's in all of half a dozen scenes.

basically disney was just pissed it didn't rake in half a billion

The skill and talent to do so doesn't exist in the industry any more and they are not going to get the few boomers who still know how to do it to try and teach people.
They want cheap and easy so that all the brownoids they hire can do it.

What
>>
>>217806925
They should really try the anime route, just adapt good stories that animation can enhance instead of trying original stories by millennial basedboys.
>>
>>217808124
Well they tried getting Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim to ripoff Khans of Tarkir from Magic the Gathering and turn it into into a movie with a bunch of star wars references. It was Raya. It flopped.
>>
>>217808301
fucking retards. Like Invincible, it's doing very well even with it's subpar animation. Imagine if it actually got Demon Slayer budget animation, it would bring american animation back into mainstream.
>>
>>217806338
They chared away anyone able to make it, and they had no proper apprentices, so it would be just slop
>>
>>217806338
I hope not, disney is irrelevant and it's to the point where there's no fixing it.
>>
>>217806338
TENG's animation sucked compared to what they originally planed

It feels like the technology to AI traditional animation shouldn't be hard, but I've yet to see it really executed.

You don't need to hand draw cells anymore. Just have a computer spit one out. The only problem is figuring out a bespoke AI model that knows what staying on model and have a context memory that remembers characters and objects.
>>
>>217806925
No one wants to watch movies where all the main characters are brown.
Not even brown people.
>>
>>217808943
or you could just draw
>>
>>217808943
You cannot use AI that way because AI can't think and doesn't know what it's doing.
It literally cannot avoid those mistakes
>>
>>217806338
I fucking hope not. Disney moved from 2d because 2d animators insisted on unionising and other gay commie shit. 3d put the end to that faggotry.
>>
>>217809200
>It literally cannot avoid those mistakes
It's not 2022 anymore, 2D AI animation is better than 99.999% of modern 2D American animation.
>>
>>217806338
no one will mind a LLM disney renaissance film, cope everyone. Highly likely Batman TAS, classic 2d animation sees a massive resurgence with artists using tools to animate their drawings. Would absolutely love to see google and TPUs replace jeets and CG
>>
>>217809200
ask me how i know you have never perused huggingface. One classically trained artist with a pen and paper and markers will be able to create their own film. The low brow will be prompting it all top to bottom, what will sell though is a team or artist using tools to bring his animated creations to life
>>
>>217808359
>Imagine if it actually got Demon Slayer budget animation
the demon slayer movie only had a budget of 20 million
>>
>>217809394
better than american animation is still shit
AI still cannot think therefore can't create
>>
>>217809553
>angry ai tard
Sure they will
sure we will have classically trained artists
surely it won't go the way of cgi
>>
>>217809843
are you saying feeding and paying payroll taxes will be cheaper then TPUs and electricity? kek, the ignorance is fucking astounding on this board. There is no stopping the LLM takeover
>>
>>217809829
That's why you have it trained on the best animations and then a real person vetting the generations.
>>
>>217806338
Fuck no. You’ll be lucky to have an animated movie that isn’t entirely made by AI after 2030.
>>
>>217809829
>ai cant think
i think your confusing human empathy as the trait of being human and the ability to decide abstractly. These models will, undoubtedly, be able to offer, what we call a thought process. The reason it wont be a market is the human will still want a human element, but to think you couldnt have a LLM create a diverse portfolio of nearly 1:1 renaissance films complete with monitoring feedback, manipulating online opinion and gaslighting everyone, not sure youre aware of how much scaling is left once the power sources and data centers are secure
>>
>>
>>217810156
this is unironically a perfect example of the debate. Will the human eye tolerate the LLMs perfection or journey perfecting physics or will we prefer a humans interpretation of physics. The titty shake will determine humanity future
