Now that time has passed, was Mr Rogers actually for children or was it covert subversion?
>>
It was woke as fuck poison
>>
>>217806573
how so?
>>
>>217806549
Was he on the list?
>>
He educated kids, wanted them to read and think, love others and treat them fairly, and genuinely wanted what was best for them, so he was an enemy to the right wing establishment.
>>
>>217806549
I think it was for kids and he genuinely loved doing it. He's like a well meaning eunuch.
>>
I'm sure one day Tom Hanks playing him with sour the image, but I don't think Mr Rodgers did anything wrong at least
>>217806629
Wasn't he like the only thing that kept them from defunding PBS
>>
>>217806549
>everyone person with good intentions is secretly bad
It will do you well to drop that attitude.

>>217806629
And leftwing as well
>>
>>217806586
he told kids to clean up after themselves
that's minus izzatt
>>
I dont think there's ever been a more benevolent meliorist in entertainment
>>
He taught kids to be compassionate, responsible, intellectuallycurious and well behaved.

So obviously he's everything the modern establishment hates and wants to destroy.
>>
>>217806629
This. Chuds will attack Mr Rogers because their miserable and pathetic and didnt have a strong father figure growing up.
>>
>>217806549
He was at least by all accounts a decent human being. Probably had a few flaws, but really made making a positive impact on kids a priority.
>>
we were better off when kids shows would be sponsored by tobacco companies
>>
I liked the bit where he got into the house, took his blazer off and then put a nice cardie on. Comfiness.
>>
He fought in one of the wars
just like Bob Ross did
>both of them said "never. again.'
>>
"Won't You Be My Neighbor?" made me cry
Confronting issues such as whether kids feel like a mistake and using that structure to let all children know they deserve to be loved. Kids need somewhere to feel safe and calm.

>presbyterian minister boomer with a public access show
Probably the most genuine thing ever aired on television. The miniature neighborhood intro is pure sovl. My nephew showed me the modern spin off with the tiger and it was sovlless.

His appeal to the Senate, warming even the most cynical Washington insider's, insider's heart, is one of the handful of things to make me cry in my adult life. He was incredibly ahead of his time in terms of mental health. No, not the "pop your pills and see your therapist (stranger to you) once every week for the rest of your life" cancer that has infested modern treatment of depression and mental illness. I'm not religious at all but I respect that his approach to all of this was rooted in a sincere desire to live a life of service to God, a calling he felt to children. He's the opposite side of the coin that neckbeard atheists like to cherry pick with pedo priests and the like.

Right-on, anon. I watched his testimony to Congress a few weeks ago, for the first time, and I felt it was a genuine heartfelt and compelling defense of his work. I'm glad he managed to continue the show.

When he recited "What do you do with the mad that you feel" it hit me right in the chest.

was a radical idea once. now, it's a big industry. that's not his fault.

It's a type of sincerity that I think is literally impossible to fake. Unless the viewer himself is a true misanthrope or psychopath, that might still view it cynically, any remotely good natured person can sense instantly that this is a kindred lover of his fellow man speaking from the heart. You can fake politeness, you can't fake kindness.

this. an insincere person can live their whole life without realizing that others are sincere. they can't imagine others can be this way and project their own falseness on them

There is no one true way to treating mental illness and bitching about medication and structured therapy is pretty childish lashing out when it’s a fact that some do people need medication in order to be functional and also to prevent them from becoming dangerous to themselves and/others. And yes sometimes medication doesn’t work or can be extremely hard to get right in dosage because human bodies are just weirdly individualistic like that. That doesn’t disqualify them.
