>be THE Übermensch orc
>the least ugly of your species
>what Melkor dreamed when he created your species
>you're the only white one
What did Jackson means with this?
>>
I hope this is /lotr/and not /nignogs/
>>
>>217814044
It's Hobbit, the prequel to LOTR.
Also, what is /nignogs/?
>>
>>217814008
Uruk Hai are bigger, stronger, handsomer and blacker. Just look at Lurtz or Menu Orc.
>>
>>217814082
Fine /tolkien/
I want to talk about middle earth not race stats

What actually means putting / /?

Also, talking about Middle-Earth, it makes no sense and kinda hypocritical about the industrialization.
>Tal-Mairon does it, bad
>Dwarfs do it, good
Also Tal-Mairon didn't go further enough
>no tanks
>no shotguns nor rifles
>no nukes
>no planes
>no drones
>his troops still use arcs, swords, crossbows, etc. all pre-Renaissance weaponry, very lame
>>
>>217814320
Perhaps.

>>217814346
What matters is the skull not the hair. Azog mogs the shit out of black orcs and uruks.

Hairlet cope.
The weakest Uruk could kill Azog easily.

Wait, what? First time I heard about it.

None of any of Tolkien's books make any sense in military and geopolitical terms.

Is actually pretty small compared to Bilbo & Thorin fanfic/r34

He was kino, CGI notwithstanding. The guy who played him did a great job, and speaking Black Speech on its own helps a lot. They had dialect coaches too IIRC.

I don't want to know. Thanks.
>>
>>217815153
The orcs parts are the only ones that interested me besides Beorn's farm. Orcs are so interesting yet so underdeveloped and underrated.
We don't know their origin, cultures, biology, etc.
>>
>>217815392

As a kid my favourite parts of LOTR were those where orcs talked among themselves, like Ugluk, Grisnakh and the misty mountain orcs. Or shagrat and gorbag thinking of slipping away from Mordor with their own crew.
>>
I have a question about FOTR
After Boromir blows the horn and Aragorn races to get him
There is a shot across the top of the Uruks going down the hill
Does anyone know how this was filmed? To me it has to be a zip line
Too slow for helicopters but it’s skirting the top of trees
Always been curious
>>
>>217815545
LOTR wasn't filmed, it's real.
>>
>>217814225
Lurtz is part human, same with menu orc. Urul hai just means uruk which means orc. Blsck orcs of Mordor are different and smaller than Lurtz or menu orc but bigger than normal pure orc and much more vicious.
>>
>>217814008
literally the pale orc, not white. pale, pallid , opaque, etc...
>>
>>217814225
azog is taller and stronger than the uruks
>>
>>217815500
Kinda sad that even in the books are underrepresented. Idk why Tolkien had to sabotage himself with the origin of the orcs.
Same with the "evil can't create, only corrupt" and then you see the dragons, which are Melkor's finest creations and can reproduce by themselves and exist as an independent species adaptable to different biomas.
>>
>>217815723
>white skin
>umm acksually it's not white, it's pale
>>
>>217815392
Yes, they look pretty cool in the Hobbit trilogy, they seem to be at their peak while in LotR the look like hobos. The whole scarification thing is pretty nasty, both Azog's face scars and his son weird "metal bandages" are fucking cool. You said they are your favourite part and I agree, I was expecting some cool dwarves too but they focused on the "handsome" dwarves and the "funny" ones. None of them feel like a proper warrior, just hairy buffoons.
>>
>>217816313
that's how it's written. pale is different than white, literally
>>
>>217815572
Please anon, you used to genuinely be able to talk to each other about films on here
What a shame
>>
>>217816334
But even in The Hobbit many orcs are disgusting, specially with their noses. Ok, I get they are evil and do ritual scars, but why no one has good teeth nor nose, not even hair; all except of Azog and Bolg have no good posture and this sre the base of Sauron's armies.

With trolls things are even worst (no sharp teeth, no claws, just ugly big bald brit hoolings). And the goblins are just awful in both trilogies.
>>
>>217816572
>And the goblins are just awful in both trilogies.
Absolutely, they look like the worst orcs had a threesome with a rat and a bad flu. But I have to say, it's pretty impressive work how they can make every character have a little personality with looks alone, specially since most of them have seconds of screentime. Also the clear class system you mentioned, you can feel they are different species and that there is a pecking order without anyone telling you.
>>
>>217816679
>with a rat
Thanks to the goblin of Hobbit 2 that look like a rat, "skaven", I developed this theory, orc is an umbrella-term, not the name of a species.
So that's why orcs had different origins and look like different species.
>Azog, "orc" of elf? human? mix blood?
>Goblin King, frog?
>some other look like they're evolved humanoid lions
Etc.
>>
>>217814417
Dwarves aren't industrialized, their craft is still based on artisans.
>arcs
What brown language?
>>
>>217816854
>Hobbit 2
>check the forges and all the equipment
>according to anon that is not an industry
Ok
>>
>>217816910
>forges didn't exist before industrial revolution
>>
>>217814008
Boldogs, white orcs, great orcs, etc. were lesser Maiar in Morgoth' service who commanded orc armies during the First Age. Jackson decided to make Azog and Bolg into some kind of super orcs like boldogs because... just because ok!
>>
>>217814008
>The foulest of their kind...
>A ZOG...
What did PJ mean by this?
>>
>>217816942
Anon watch the film, there are forges, industrial-size forges in Erebor.
>>
>>217817132
>anon watch the [PJ's fanfic]
No.
>>
>>217817062
So am I right, "orc" is just an umbrella-term? >>217816836

Also, why Melkor's maiars choose forms that were so ugly?
>>
>>217816470
It was praise of the film disguised as a joke, like "it's all real" but I too am interested in what they used to do that shot. I will look at it for you even though I'm not a camera expert.
>>
>>217815572
>>217816470
Dub fact: when Tolkien was asked about from where he got the ideas for his stories, he said all that was written in books happened in real life, he just changed the names of the characters, regions, civilizations.

They use some rails in previous shots so I thought it could be a crane but it has to be a wire. The camera is shaking a little bit when it reaches the midpoint of its path so you nailed it. It really is a beautiful 10-15s shot.

No he's not. He's barely taller than Thorin. The Uruks are as big as Aragorn.

Liberal Tolkiencucks have such hard time accepting than Tolkien was just as racists as most Brits of his time.

All this years, coping, writing essays, making fanfiction about Middle Earth, to try to turn Tolkien into a good goy pro-Diversity™

Is sad really. Almost as sad as all those leftists fans of horror, Coping about H. P. Lovecraft

>CGI notwithstanding
I was on a high when I marathoned the trilogy for the first time a couple of years ago, so I tried going right into the The Hobbit movies despite knowing the stinky reception (and actually seeing the first one in theatres but barely remembering it). I pushed through the terrible effects on all the scenes in Bag End, but this dude being full CG made me stop. The practical effects on orcs in LOTRO were my favorite part. What a fucking bummer.

That was unironically a great change. I'm not saying the cockney accent from LOTR was bad, but the Black Speech was better.

>>217822367
Best thing would be to actually follow the book and create a small scale fantasy adventure with Bilbo being the sole center point of the cast. The Hobbit is not meant to be a grand epic like the LOTR and I would pay good money for a proper Fantasy advanture true to the book.

>The Hobbit is not meant to be a grand epic like the LOTR
It was only a grand epic and le gritty in the sense that it played up the threat against Thorin/Thorin's heirs' lives and they did die in the end, and that has to carry weight. No the fate of the world was not in the balance but the fate of a bloodline was. Why can't people fucking enjoy that
>>
>>217816248

Morgoth could only breathe "life" into his creations by biding dark spirits, or even part of his own being, into them. That's why he got weaker over time.
>>
>>217822656
Nah, Black Speech is awesome, it should be used in real life.
>>
>>217823118
Because The Hobbit trilogy was sell like a LOTR 2.0 instead of what you have in the books. That's why many people didn't enjoy it.
>>
>>217823270
But that doesn't make any sense, in the end those species evolved independently from him; with each individual of those species being unique, with his own desires, dreams and goals.
>>
>>217822272
Epic Zeus moment.

The Creator / Father of the White Species is Zeus, not Yakub.

Are there orcs in the east with the blue wizards?
>>

>No he's not. He's barely taller than Thorin.
Bro, Bolg was taller than Legolas and Azog is equal or slightly taller than Bolg. Azog was the same size as the Uruk'hai or taller. Azog was basically what Saruman was aiming for when creating the Uruk'hai. He's one of those original Orcs created by Morgoth from when they were Elves, which is why he's not as ugly as most other Orcs. He wasn't the product of thousands of years of inbreeding and creating malformed mongrels that most Orcs were by the time of the Hobbit and TLoTR.
