>Noooo my smoking hot redhead wife constantly wants to have sex with me and I can own a mansion with 2 car garage based on a mall shoe sales man salary and have comfy friends I drink beer with and my daughter constantly walks around the house in teasing outfits what an awful life I have

It's funny they called Marcy the chicken lady because I always kinda thought Peg looked more like a bird.

You take away the big hair and the slutty leopard-print outfits and you’re left with a nagging big nose jewess with a manface.

It's a comedy. Also, it was the 80s and the show was subversive of every other "happy family" sitcom that was on at the time.

She didn't work and didn't contribute to the family. She didn't cook either. She's just an old harpy.

OP is eastern european.

Reminder that part of what led to the USSR's downfall is that state television aired a documentary on how poor and oppressed native americans are and a guy complaining about being unemployed had a pickup truck sitting in his yard.

Lowest common denominator show, absolutely terrible joke writing the thing is entirely held up by the cast.

I enjoy it, it's a guilty pleasure show for me but god is it stupid.

True, found it hilarious as a kid but it's pretty dated

ehh he had to suffer her for 16 years prior the first episode that's a long time not being fed, the house not getting clean and needing to fuck the same unlovable shrill hag that spends all you money on herself with no thanks

That's kind of the joke. He has everything yet is still unhappy, it is a social commentary on the human condition, it is actually a highly intellectual masterpiece. He kind of reminds me of Artie Bucco from the Sopranos.

It is possible Peggy inherited a lot of money and paid off the home, which would explain her laziness and expensive tastes, but because she eventually blew all their money and is ill suited to hold down a job it is largely up to Al to pay the bills, but freed from mortgage and debt it is possible on his income. He perhaps also feels a sense of duty since technically Peggy owns the home and also they actually love each other and have built a life together.

Most suburban houses are one story.
