How come hollywood never made a single live action Warhammer 40k movie starring a list actors like Henry Cavil and Idris Elba
To “nerdy” and “weird” for the normalchad masses.
>>217815250They should use my pitch.
>>217815250because nu-40k is fucking cringe
>>217815250I always felt like this shit is something people pretend to enjoy for internet points but only a niche small percentage actually and unironically are into it Which is why it's gay and retarded
>>217815524I grew up reading my dad's back issues of White Dwarf and you aren't wrong. The masses have to plunder every niche hobby to keep themselves entertained for another minute.
>>217815250Probably a combination of 40k not having enough widespread appeal to justify the cost (40ks fanbase is dedicated and will throw money at anything with a space marine on it, but there simply are not enough 40k nerds to fill theaters across the country) and GW would have to be negotiated with as the rights holder and GW is either not interested or is demanding too much creative control over the result. You have to remember, the average Hollywood studio wants the IP rights to something so they can slap the name on the side of a project they already want to make for free marketing, and then include the bare minimum number of references to the original IP in the work to make the trailer trick fans into buying a ticket for opening weekend. GW, however, is very protective of 40k's brand image and would as a result demand to be VERY involved with making sure that everything looked just right and was lore accurate enough to serve as a valid advertisement for the setting and the minis. You think Warner Brothers Studios wants to have an army of british lawyers shadowing their every move, shooting down their brilliant ideas like making the Emperor a stand-in for Trump who wants to make Make Terra Great Again, or who threatens to pull the plug on the project over the LGBT space marine sidekick? You think the director wants to be told how he has to make Orks sound, or that the VFX team has to make Necrons look *precisely* like this instead of being whatever deviantart imaginings they come up with themselves? With that amount of breathing down their necks, why would any studio want to bother jumping through that many hoops to make something that would probably bomb at the box office anyway?
>>217815524Astartes and the video in OP’s pic are dope but that is the extent of my 40k knowledge
>>217815250Because if they stay faithful to the lore then it would be dreary edgelord shit. People like to watch action/sci-fi shows with tales of friendship, adventure and occasionally some romance. 40k is all about gore and guts with no room for comedy or fun. Nobody is going to want to watch that shit.
>>217815778There is room for comedy in 40k, but only a specific kind of dark comedy about how much everything sucks and how insane everyone is for believing any of this shit, or some stuff baked into the settings origins that is satirical of a specific era of british politics from several decades ago that no one gives a shit about now.
40k fans are just star wars fans who think star wars is too kiddy for themactual manchildren
