Aragorn didnt abandon Frodo and choose to rescue Merry and Pippin instead, sacrificing the entire fate of Middle Earth to rescue two Hobbits he met a week ago.
the entire scene is retarded and Tolkien would have been mortified

The movie was kino. Aragorn was tempted same as Galadriel and Boromir who failed, he understood that moment he couldn't let himself risk it with his own human desire, specially the closer they got to Gondor. He doesn't leave Frodo, he chooses to stop obstructing Frodo's way.

Also Boromir's death was shit in the book, he just says "I failed, I tried to take the ring from Frodo, the other two hobbits were taken *dies smiling*".

But Aragorn didn't abandon Frodo. First he ensured Frodo that he's on his side by resisting the ring like it was nothing, and then he respected Frodo's very reasonable choice of going on alone, so as not to risk anyone else getting corrupted and tempted.
It was all Frodo's choice, not Aragorn abandoning him.
