What's a film idea you thought of first, only to discover that it already existed but you arrived at it independently?
>>217825368I'm not fucking kidding. I was just about to make this thread. I swear on my life. What the fuck? Even my ideas for threads are being pre-emptively copied.
Pete Campbell is that you?
I wanted to make a movie about the life of an apple core and then found out a couple different people have made movies or shorts about a single dollar note. When I was really young I used to flex my ear drums in a rhythm, and the sound is near identical to the Dark Knight batman theme.

>>217825468>>217825368Wtf I JUST saw that episode of Madmen tonight. Why is Mossad/Canadian Secret Service monitoring my HBO account??
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defending_Your_LifeThis, I even wrote a script in film school. Guy dies and his morality is right on the line, angels can't decide if he's good enough for heaven or should be sentenced to hell. So he has to go through a whole trial to show he's a good person and whatnot. I told someone and they went "oh like Defending Your Life?"

>>217825368I wrote a story that I was really proud of about four dimensional beings that abduct a protagonist who is capable of changing the future through seemingly random and pointless actions that break with the deterministic nature of reality. A single fluke human being with free will in a universe that doesn’t support it. Anyways, I’ve never read Slaughterhouse Five before but apparently my story sounds like Slaughterhouse Five to random critics. Looking back, if anything I got the idea from Guts and Berserk, but my story was nothing like that annime/manga outside of having the main character be the only one with free will thing.
Cowboy vs AliensHappy Death DayBut I had these ideas before the movies existed, so I had to wait for someone else to make them. Also, not a movie, but The Last of Us.
>>217825368In my college composition course i would write a lot of my papers as entries in some ongoing serial that I made up on the spot by thinking "What is the dumbest thing I could do." The main character was an acid-casualty drunken private detective who kept getting caught up in supernatural and paranormal shit (like dirk gently, if he was an alcoholic who liked pills), and his partner was a guy who was possessed by the spirit of elvis and he looked like some random guy doing a shitty elvis impersonation. His name was Bad-Elvis. Years later Bubba Ho Tep came out, which had bruce campbell as Elvis (who just faked his death) teaming up with an old black guy possessed by the spirit of JFK. Its not exactly the same thing, but there's enough similar dumb shit that I am almost paranoid about it.

>>217825368Not film related, but as a kid I imagined going to a theater to watch a play-through of a video game.
I haven't watched it, but reading the summary of Dark Matter it sounds an awful lot like a "movies ideas" pitch I spitballed and wrote out on the Internet one time.
>>217825531Oh man I had thought the life of a quarter would be a good one. Money is kind of obvious though, I think apple core is still a good idea that would stand on its own
>>217825531>>217826231That sounds like pretty standard student short film fare. Although the life of a quarter seems like it has way more flexibility than an apple core.
