one thing i learned from watching my dad is that he never ever once was "allowed" to show any emotion except anger or hate. any time he even expressed happiness or humor i could just tell my mom wasn't interested, and he changed his behavior. and i've never had a long-term relationship because ive never wanted to risk expressing emotions to a woman.now when i see little news blurbs of for instance taylor swift's boyfriend getting hurt on the football field, I think, Oh man, it's over for him. he showed weakness, now she'll leave him forever. but then they stay together, apparently. it's really confusing for me.
