For me? It's Barbara Stanwyck in "The Lady Eve"

I want Gene Tierney to scatter my ashes like
she does in 'Leave Her to Heaven'.

Great film. My favorite Stanwyck performance and favorite Sturges film too. Ever noticed new things about films you've seen many times? Check out how soon Stanwyck enters the shot in this scene - she's "way, way back" as Fonda says to both Jean and Eve in the film.

Agreed. Insanity.

>When Gene Fowler Jr., my editor on the picture, heard that Stanwyck was going to do the falling-off-the-horse scene, he confronted me in the cutting room.

>"You're out of your mind, Sammy!" he said.

>"Why?"

>"What if something happens? The horse could step on her face. The picture isn't nearly finished. You've still got a lot of days to go with her. She's a big star."

>"Well, nothing's going to happen. Barbara said she wanted to do it, and that's that," I said, ending the discussion.

>Not only did Stanwyck do the stunt, she did it over and over. Because of technical problems, we had to reshoot the damned scene three times. You couldn't believe the dust storm we concocted. It was ferocious. We brought in an extra wind machine and threw in bags of stuff called Fuller's Earth, a brand of cement. I liked the wild effect it created. But the crap didn't feel too good in your mouth and your eyes, especially when they whipped it up to about eighty miles an hour. Barbara was a little bruised at the end of that day, but she never murmured a word of complaint. What a trooper!

I don't get how the guy didn't realize it was woman he fell in love with later in the film . I guess a few years may have passed but they don't really make it clear
It just seems like she shows up a few months later and he's totally fooled
anyways I like the movie. Screwball Comedy might be the pinnacle of Americana

One of the conceits of Hollywood is that all you need is a wardrobe change and different hair and you become unrecognizable

My kind of woman.

Jackie was a good wife though. Never marry an actress.

I like how they show her sleeping her way to the top via the camera outside the office moving to higher and higher floors

Throwing in Nietzsche like that was a weird sort of scene. Maybe they needed to come up with a reason to explain her actions later.
