This is based on a book.They never reveal whether the older sister is possessed or not. She acts like she is, but then tells the younger sister that she playing it up because the family needs the money that being on the reality show is bringing, and later claims their father is the one possessed and she’s pretending to be in order to alert people to that. The reality show culminates with a failed exorcism after which the family is forgotten. The older sister claims their father is planning to kill them and their mother and then himself, and instructs the younger sister to poison their food to knock their parents out so they can run away. Once she does, the older sister eats it along with the parents, and they all die.The younger sister vividly remembers this, but only the father’s fingerprints were on the poison. Was he truly possessed? Was the older sister? Was he just a religious fanatic driven insane by the church failing him, or was she a schizo attention whore who wanted to give her possession arc a memorable ending? Or was the younger sister possessed and pulling a long con on everyone? All of it is left ambiguous.
