Speaking of absolutely stupid nonsensical movies and stop-motion kino, I'd waited until it was officially winter before christmas to start watching coldcore but saved a couple lesser-looking ones for later and ended up going backwards seasonally.

Frostbiter was a goofy fun Troma picture I never heard of. Suitably snowy but it's set during hunting season.

Winterbeast was just crazy. A passion project filmed over nearly a decade off an on as they had time and money. Really kitchen sinks it's monsters. The title is misleading though because it's set in the fall with nary a drop of snow.
If you like wacky low-budget schlock, I highly recommend both.

Bumping for sex parasites

Gave it a chance but even on its own, it definitely falls apart around the halfway-2/3rds mark. Would have been better if it leaned more into its stylish, and exaggerated campy elements instead of introducing too much melodrama, especially since some of it was down to characters doing stupid shit. And Queens becoming a bottle film felt a lot more like a financial limitation than anything. Also I tried but my inner chud kept on bubbling up to the surface. Characters like Dre were fine but goddamn these queens were too catty during a zombie apocalypse. Only character I ended up loving was Barry, just because he seemed to be the only one aware that shit was starting to go down while not being a dick either.

I love horror fantasy, it's a shame Clive didn't do more movies.
I even like the two early ones even though they didn't have his vision and were very cheap (underworld, rawhead rex).
I didnt like midnight meat train and I remember saint sinners being too bland too, but some of his material deserve more adaptations and remakes.

>goddamn is exhuma fucking long, feels like Koreans can't make a movie under 2 hours.
It's because their cinema culture is much more accepting of leisurely films. I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere it is because they treat cinema trips like we treat watching tv (they would have definitely had the extended Dragon Tattoo films play in the cinemas there).

I wasn't really a fan of Cape Fear, might just be that I'm not a DeNiro fan. But yeah similar feeling films.
Though DeNiros character was a rapist, while Mitchums seemed enraged by all women more than even in a puritanical way. I wonder if Laughton pushed him that way because of his own homosexuality.

Put on my chastity cage, charge phone in other room, have laptop almost closed unreachable next to tv connected via HDMI with VLC open. Have endless supply of popcorn cooked in beta carotene, Flavacol, and clarified butter. Have endless supply of cold zero sugar pepsis (coke never goes on sale). the pepsis are stored in a small lunchbox with icepacks next to me. have my chair reclined, feet up, blanket on top (high temp makes my balls sag low), have horror kino on. focus on munching and sipping and trust the movie to keep you entertained.

Watch in 4K for sure. When you get a scene that's like "But meemaw, my britches won't fit another shilling and the preacher always says, chastity rides o..." and you feel yourself tuning out, you really need to be enjoying the sets and the costumes and all the beautiful little details.
Also, it sounds self evident but if you pay attention to each line of dialog, you'll find you're missing the key stuff that makes it enjoyable. Rewind if you tuned out and didn't catch a line. You'll be surprised about how much you can miss that brings excitement. You just have to work harder for it.
I personally don't like subtitles since they fuck with the visuals.

most horror movies have atrocious pacing, it's not something new or endemic to nuHorror or slowburn shit at all, most 80s slashers for example have nothing of note happening for ~40m but inane banter and dialogue between the characters, like The Burning.
Exceptions are rare like A Nightmare on Elm Street where Freddy is routinely killing people every 10-15m, just compare it to Friday 13th or Halloween
if you want more horror movies with fast pacing, then watch
>The Blob remake

I can't watch Korean shit, all of them act like they have severe autism, the names are impossible to remember because it's shit like Boong-Quan and Hu-Shai and they all look the same. The zombies were goofy and retarded in that movie.

>The Void
Boring, nothing happens, then some dork in a bathrobe stabs the guy, then nothing happens, then some shitty looking plastic monster flails meaninglessly while the incompetent humans slowly kill it, then nothing happens, then some dumb gay ritual starring old doctor who died earlier but is now naked, then the dude and his dead wife are teleported to a random wasteland and it ends. I know that's super reductive but nothing in that movie was stimulating or interesting at all.

Train yourself to be bored again. Just sit in a room or lie in bed with nothing but your own thoughts for a prolonged period of time. You're all weak and retarded. The idea is to retrain your brain to handle longer stretches without the stimulation. It's the same principle as doing a tolerance break with drugs where you don't do them for a couple weeks (or longer) so that you feel the effects more when you do them again. Adding MORE stimulation will just make the problem worse. You have no fortitude, you are infants crying when the jangling keys stop.

Conjuring, Conjuring 2 and Annabelle Creation are the really good ones. Now that I think of it, the brother was also kind of retarded, the whole swimming abruptly/thrashing with no sort of decoy whatsoever to try to grapple/shove the monke, I mean, they literally could have just thrown one of the wet shirts at him and then do the big push, maybe even use a pool cleaning pole? that and the hot friend making a run for the wrong fucking car, not the one they came in were the most retarded-natural selection defiant deaths.

If its a good movie then the slow pacing only makes it better for me. Maybe you can train yourself to appreciate that what you are watching is intended to be watched the way the director made it?
It is like if you went to an art gallery and only took a curosry glance at the art pieces. Its best to sit there and soak in the art, take your time, give yourself time to reflect. Similarly for movies you want to watch it the way the director intended to get the full effect of the piece. Of course you can do what you want, just think a person may deprive themselves of an experience.

Did you like Influencer and Influencers?
Some may not think of it as strictly horror but I think it's one of the most solid stories/films of it's kind, turned out to be quite intriguing (at least for me) and left me expecting more to it, which is why some people weren't so satisfied with Influencers. The ending scene for Influencers was insane tho. 3 will have to dig in deeper and they better bring in one hell of a closure.
I kind of end up siding/sympathizing more with C.W. you kind of wish she gets away with it
Cassandra Naud is criminally underrated imo and even her birthmark is part of her charm

Watched it. It's a decent enough slasher that benefits from being an amateur production in that it develops a certain atmosphere from how bare everything feels. The 4K looks great, which alone can be a draw. Film looks so good naturally that even a shit movie is worth watching with a nice transfer.
The movie could serve as an easy B-side to My Bloody Valentine

The lead actress is also gorgeous, and yes, she gets nude. Torpedo tits with big, puffy nipples

Just finished. This has been on my watchlist since I was ten years old, lol. This movie outrageous. Computers are treated like straight up magic. A serial killer is getting an MRI during a lightning storm, and his soul gets transported into a data center server which means that he can kill you through your toaster or your dishwasher or your electrical outlets. At the climax he.just right out through the phone lines and becomes a blob of magical computer goop. Like this is abusively stupid from start to finish.

Enjoy, you can drop some lore on your mum that Kelly McGillis has a role in it and she starred in Top Gun
>>
Just finished. Another to watch item from back in the day. I always associated this, Ghost in the Machine, Eve of Destruction, and Raising Cain for some reason. This was NOT what I was expecting, it was much much much more comedic and doesn't really skew horror until it's almost over. This shit isn't ridiculous head to toe but when it wants to it GOES there like the dog having acid piss, or being able to blend in with its surroundings like a chameleon . This was the director's follow up to Child's Play 2 and I think they were expecting another one like that and he couldn't pull it off.
>>
>drop some lore on your mum
>>
Also just finished. Early Adam Wingard flick produced by Synapse Films for some reason. Bill Moseley shows up uninvited to a party in a powder blue suit with a suitcase full of razorblades. He's asks everyone there to name someone they hate, then cuts himself with a razor for each person they mention. The last person's answer is "everyone in this house." Of course the rest of the movie is some mysterious killer gorily taking out everyone who was either there or got mentioned. Problem is, as it usually is, the movie wants to be funny, and puts most of its effort into doing that. It isn't. And it's also ugly, and super long, and horribly acted, and generally just awful. I wouldn't have trusted Wingard to direct a wedding video after seeing this, let alone a Godzilla movie.

decent, might not be everyone's cup of tea since the horror serves more as a backdrop to the character studyness of daisy's character's journey to find her dead husband
the official plot synopsis paint the movie as a very violent film, though it does have violent moments, it really isn't that. it's very slow moving and methodical building up not just her character but also the characters around her
it also has some very creepy zombie behavior going on that is atypical of the usual screaming/moaning hollywood zombies

I called that this was going to happen months ago

>The appearance of Ghostface in the Scream franchise can be traced back to one of the film’s producers discovering the mask inside a Northern California home being scouted as a filming location. The production team subsequently licensed it from Fun World, a costume company that had been manufacturing and selling it since the early 1990s. The mask has been licensed for use in each installment for 30 years. Alterian argues that Fun World had no right to license the mask, saying that it created the underlying design first, the suit says.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/who-owns-the-ghostface-mask-paramount-and-spyglass-sue-to-find-out-ahead-of-scream-7-release-1236497294/

Basically

>Alterian Ghost Company creates DIY costume making kits in 1991 (left)
>Fun World knocks off the designs to make Fearsome/Fantastic Faces mask line in 1992 (right)
>Makers of Scream stumble upon the Fun World mask while location scouting and license the mask from Fun World to use in the movie
>>
>>217941980
How come it took them this long to sue? They definitely did the majority of the creative work.
Bet those ghost maker kits go for a pretty penny now.
>>
>>217941980
>>217942199
>In a 2020 case involving rights to the mask, a federal court found that Gardner is time-barred from asserting a claim since he knew of Fun World’s licensing as early as 1996 and no later than 2003.
It's a nothingburger because this isn't a MeToo case where there's no statute of limitations. My guess is that Gardner didn't want to get on the bad site of Miramax and the Weinsteins which is why he sat on it for so long but it's too late to do anything now. They're just trying to stall the release of Scream 7.
