So I just watched "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" (1973), the last Hammer film with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
>The Kind of the Dead marries the Queen of the Zombies
Absolute bullshit, Dracula is a reclusive millionaire now who lets a Chinese woman host a satanic club whose members are high ranking British officials. A biochemist has engineered a new aggressive strain of pestilence and club is to spread a new super plague around the Earth.

Also in one scene female vampires get killed by the sprinkler system. Is there something I have missed? Vampires can now be killed by sprinklers and showers?

Where / when was this established? It's not in the book "Dracula" nor was it in "Nosferatu". I dimly remember some older Hammer films, but they were set in the 1700s or 1800s, there was never any shower anywhere.

No. At best it's maybe from the early 1900s when artists fed up with the mostly royal world order in Europe wanted to shake things up a bit.

I've been slowly going through the Hammer Frankenstein films and damn, they are fun but should barely count as horror films. I also love the titles being complete nonsense. The only film in which Frank does anything bad is the first one (The Curse of Frankenstein) where he kills a dude and essentially kills another lady by locking her in a room with the creature. There is nothing like a curse though. In the second film (Revenge of) he doesn't do anything even remotely related to revenge, even though the first one ends with his former partner lying to get Frankenstein executed and that would totally warrant revenge. In fact, I think Franky does almost exclusively good things in this film, he is a real doctor and cures/helps as many people as he can; and then the third film (The Evil of) has Frankenstein being a victim when the corrupt constabulary has stolen and looted his shit, even THEN he doesn't do anything particularly evil and just about the first thing he does on arriving in his old hometown is rescue a mute retard girl.
The films are fun in a comfy British way but man the titles are bullshit that border on false advertising.

Janus Films is better than Hammer in everything except babe factor and I think it's a crime that they aren't remembered as fondly.

>How does he cross the ocean then?
Yes, I've asked myself the same. In the book he travels from Varna to London by ship. First of all shouldn't he travel by land and go for a big house in Paris instead of London so that he doesn't have to cross water? And second: He's not incapacitated by the water on the ship either. He kills the entire crew.
>>
>>218003760
I'm talking about the period. Hammer started to focus in on horror with the success of traditional monster movies, Amicus picked up anthologies, and Tigon exists because Tenser saw what you could make off tits and a witch, and produced basically sexploitation while picking up anything weird enough Hammer or Amicus would drop in favour of a guaranteed monster on the distribution side. Tigon's the oversexed bridge between the weird European production catalogue of Lee and Cushing too
>>
>>218007004

Captain Kronos is played by a German actor who later hosted the German version of Sesame Street.

The "little girl trauma" plot isn't promising. Hard to tell if Blumhouse is giving it a fair budget or just trying to cash in off the name before the Fraser version hits.
Reviews across the board are gonna slaughter it though because people expect The Mummy 99. And that film had a budget of like $150m if you transpose it to today's dollarydoos.
I think it'll depend on how scary/violent it is.

Also while I'm ranting, these films always piss people off because they bait Egyptophiles but not much of the film is shot there. If any, at least they flew to Egypt for the start of Manhattan Baby.

It's supposed to be part of their revamp of the universal monsters franchise with Invisible Man and Wolf Man, not related to the Fraser movie.

I was looking for the title of a movie I had seen years ago. So I type in the plot and ask the internet.
>AI gives me a total bullshit response with a movie whose plot is completely different from what I typed in.
>Google gives me two reddit posts in which people were looking for the same movie I wanted, but with totally different plot summaries.
>I recognise the plot points as what also happened in the movie I remembered and the response to those posts were correct.
"Satanic" (2016) by the way.

You have to really whip AI a few times before it'll give you a decent answer.

I liked the trailer. They seem to be going outright horror, unlike the previous mummy films.

No, you doofus, that was part of Universal's Dark Universe, which was an adventure movie franchise and WAS supposed to be comparable to the Fraser Mummy. This one is part of the Blumhouse Monsters universe.
