I feel like a lot of people are missing that the flashback is foreshadowing for the ending for the entire series. Dunk originally wanted to leave Westeros for the Free Cities with his gf before life happened and he became a squire.Then Dexter Sol Ansell spoiled Dunk would survive Summerhall. The fortune teller also said Dunk would become "richer than a Lannister". Who else was a wife to a Lannister but disappeared under mysterious circumstances? Rohanne Webber. Dunk will reunite with her in the Free Cities and is rewarded with a happy ending for being a true knight to the very end.
