That's nothing new for expat actors. It's a mix of communication issues and the reality that they're usually casting nobodies rather than trained actors.

There used to be a lot of video games recorded in English in Tokyo and they were almost universally bad. The actors were usually just random English speakers who were in Japan for some other reason. I imagine that's the case with most westerners in k-dramas.
