Breaking Bad doesn't really take off until season 3
crazy that it premiered more than 18 years ago
came out closer to when Cheers was on the air than it did to today
>>
>>218175220
You enjoyed the high-intensity lawyer talk, the high-intensity Jimmy-and-Kim-just-in-a-room-talking action, and the high-intensity Jimmy-and-Kim-celebrating-random-scams?
>>
>>218175220
Good joke post anon. I also regret watching both breaking bad and better call saul.
>>
>>218175298 (me)
And the scene where Howard absolutely landed his pitch to get a bunch of geezer to not settle a class action lawsuit against a retirement home chain? I needed a shower after all that action. Riveting.
>>
>>218175256
Breaking Bad leans far more on the intrigue of what's going to happen, so rewatching it I find it much less engaging than I did the first time. I feel like Better Call Saul is going to have more rewatch value because it's more about the characters than the twists and turns of the story.

I just spoke to someone about BCS and they wanted to know what I thought about them making Gus gay. I was completely baffled by what they were talking about. Apparently the scene he is at the whine bar is supposed to be him being gay, but I don't see it. The behavior in the scene is completely normal high end wine nerd speak and nothing at all stood out to me as be homo. Anyone else confused at this as well?
>>

>>218175350
You must have an exceptionally high IQ
>>
>>218175401
Wait I thought he was gay with that dude who was killed in the flashback in breaking bad? His entire motivation was seeking revenge against the cartel for that dude's death, right? I haven't watched breaking bad in years so maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I thought that dude was his lover
>>
>>218175220
I never watched last season of BCS because fuck waiting 2 years for it, forgetting everything that happened in the previous season, and having to rewatch from the beginning again.
Actually I might not even have watched S5 for the same reason, looking at Wikipedia. I don't remember now.
Genuinely great series as far as I did watch, but that just really pissed me off too much.
>>
>>218175401
It just a tiny hint, is nothing worth even bringing up, Gus is basically the only major male character who never interacts closely with a woman in the whole show
>>
>>218175220
That makes you a retard because BCS is trash
>>
BCS is dull as shit, every episode is the exact same
>>
>>218175396
Reminder that if Bob Odenkirk didn't have a heart attack, we would've gotten a completely different S6.
>>
>>218175469
>Wait I thought he was gay with that dude who was killed in the flashback in breaking bad?
you could be right, its been a long time since I watched breaking bad. I did not remember him being a gay though.
>>
>>218175523
How so?
>>
>>218175523
Easier to admit Vince is a shit writer and he cant write beyond "heheh what if thing that happened is because of a random coincidence and a misunderstanding hehehe"
>>
>>218175298
I loved the high-intensity-FILTERED scenes, yes
>>
>>218175220
Breaking Bad doesn't hold up on a rewatch. It's good but not in the pantheon of all-time great shows.
>>
the best scenes in BCS were the ones with that jeff guy, in the taxi and then in the mall
but then they recast that guy and made the character shit for some reason

i stopped watching the show after season 1 but those two scenes made me want to watch the show again

>BB critical character development moment is like when Walter struggled with the decision to kill another man and then finally doing it
>BCS critical character development moment is like when Jimmy started selling drop phones to hookers and average low lives
Clearly I'm the fucking retard because somehow Vince managed to squeeze 6 seasons out of a wimp like Jimmy McGill and people liked it.
>>
>>218175401
I haven't seen BCS but I'm pretty sure I knew Gus was gay from BB.

I see you're a man of reason and taste as well.

Jimmy humiliated and destroyed Heisenberg's legacy by reducing him to a sniveling old man that Saul Goodman manipulated. He got the last laugh.

"BCS is good" is possibly the most subversive memes. It's proponents are psychically linked and absolutely unwavering. You will never see a BCS poster break character. Remarkable efforts

Character development in breaking bad ended up being Walter leaves millions of dollars to his whore wife and retarded son, bravo
>>
>>218175220
Their writing definitely improved.
>>
>>218175690
>anyone who says they like a show that I don't like is obviously part of a psyop conspiracy
That's very narcissistic of you.
Better Call Saul is one of the best shows ever made, in my opinion. But it's a character study, so to the average person it is going to seem boring and uneventful. I love how it reveals more and more about the characters though, little by little, it's like you're actually getting to know these people in an intimate way. Plus it's very aesthetically enjoyable to me, the cinematography and whatnot.
>>
>>218175640
You clearly don't understand the concept of "character development"
>>
>>218175821
Better call saul is definitely better than breaking bad in a lot of aspects but it suffers from being very slow at times and its inherent limitation of being a prequel
>>
>>218175220
>fantastic
The first seasons. Once the mobshit starts its terrible.
>Hey remember all that entertaining Saul lawyering shit? Too bad here's the fucking backstory to how the underground lab was made because anime gives a flying fuck.
>Also Jimmy and Kim just act like complete assholes toward Howard because!
>>
>>218175919
The tonal shift to suddenly shit on Howard shows the writers had no idea what to do, it felt weird to me too
>>
>>218175919
>>218175951
The animosity towards Howard was there since season 1 because Jimmy thought he was the one holding him back (not letting him join HHM), but obviously we find out it was Chuck.
>>
>>218175919
>>218175951
Holy shit you guys are fucking retards.
Jimmy remained bitter toward Howard even after finding out it was actually Chuck who kept Jimmy out of HHM; Jimmy became even more bitter toward Howard after HHM poached Mesa Vista from Kim; then Jimmy came to outright despise Howard after Howard offered him a job at HHM because (to oversimplify) Jimmy had a chip on his shoulder about people looking down on him and pitying him, and he took Howard's offer to be condescending and arrogant and insulting.
Similarly, Kim became bitter toward Howard early on for treating her like shit. Then she became more bitter toward him during the Mesa Vista shit. She never outright despised him like Jimmy did, but she was so caught up in the fun of conning people with Jimmy that she couldn't resist the scam they pulled on Howard. But she was clearly uncomfortable with it from the beginning, she just ignored those feelings because it was fun. Which is why she felt such immense guilt after his murder, because she knew all along that he didn't deserve what they were doing to him, and what they did to him directly led to his death. And ultimately her guilt over that is what led her to confess to it years later, and then influence Jimmy to confess to all of his shit.
I know "media literacy" is a meme right now, but you're some of the most media illiterate people I've ever seen for not understanding this shit, it was so blatant, nothing subtle, all very clearly spelled out, and you still missed it.
You should probably just go back to scrolling tiktok.
>>
>>218175401
He is flirting with the other man in that scene.
>>
>>218176417
Such a conversation is normal for high end wine bars. You have to make ruch retards feel good about spending exorbitant amounts of money on grape juice. Nothing about it felt sexually charged in the slightest.
>>
>>218175469
That was his brother, no? Los Polos = Chicken Brothers
>>
>watch homeland
>realise Rhea plays Kim as if she were that chic from homeland

Hank finds out incredibly early. Walt i don't know man you've been seeming sus lately. It's almost like there's an imposter among us
>>

>came out closer to when Cheers was on the air than it did to today
... FUCK...
>>
>>218178991
not really. the homeland chick has a mental disorder.
they're both extremely driven people with slightly self-destructive tendencies, but kim is also extremely rational for a woman.
>>
>>218175220

BCS felt far weaker, especially the later seasons.
>>
>>218179306
i dropped it middle of the final season. it just felt cartoonish and silly.
i still dont know how BCS ends. does he get identified by that one asshole who recognized him as Saul?
>>
>>218176417
Autismos have no concept of flirting and think it's synonymous with foreplay.
>>
>>218175220
>just makes me want to watch Better Call Saul again
nice bait

Worse, it was his cripple old mother the one that does and gets caught because she calls the police, yeah Im not kidding, it is that lame

Believe it or not, Carol Burnett turns him in with her Life Alert button
>>

holy shit lol
>>
>>218175635
it gets a kind of pseudo-marvel breaking bad overhaul after season 3, sadly. there's still some kino moments, but it's mostly the gus and lalo show, with lalo having the durability of a marvel character until the final boss battle with gus.
>>
>>218175256
>Breaking Bad doesn't really take off until season 3
Jesus christ what a fucking terrible opinion the show peaked hard in season 1 and got worse every year after
>>
>>218175220
BCS is an absolute fucking turd. It's like a retard's fanfiction. Brevity is the soul of wit. Saul is memorable because he was used sparingly in BB. When we have to constantly follow him, and he doesn't act like Saul for 95% of the show, it's a fucking drag. Not to mention all of the mystique from BB is gone because prequels always have to overexplain and overexpand on every fucking detail. AND not to mention a lot of the returning actors have aged like milk, so all verisimilitude of this occurring BEFORE the events of BB is lost.
>>
>>218179814
all good points.
I like Odenkirk but he wore out his welcome as "Jimmy". He was enjoyable as Saul.
>>
Someone post that one pic of Jimmy yelling at Howard but Howard's laughing and Jimmy is big and red.
>>
>>218179696
they left out the best part, she got suspicious that he knew so much about the law and looked up con man albuquerque online
>>
>>218176539
This. This is just normal heterosexual men talk and interact. Anon, I think that is wonderful, please imagine me smiling at you and maintaining unbreaking soft eye contact, and chuckling delightedly at your astute observation. Tell me more, I am fascinated by your experiences and thoughts. Let me just sniff this wine cork real quick while maintaining eye contact.

>That was his brother, no?
No.
>Los Polos = Chicken Brothers
Yes, that's what it translates to, but they weren't brothers. They were close friends. Like calling your close friend a "bro".
I personally didn't see anything gay about Gus. I think the "brother" he started Los Pollos Hermanos with was just a really close friend. Probably since childhood or something. I didn't sense anything gay about being really fucking upset seeing your best friend shot in the head right next to you and you being forced to lay down right next to his dead body and stare into his lifeless eyes.

Season 4 was the best part of Breaking Bad
>>
>>218175256
It literally has one of the best pilot followed by equally great two parter episodes.
>>
Fly remains the best episode and made me really respect Rian Johnson and motivated me to watch his kinography.
I would never in a million years have suspected, from all that, he would be asked to direct a megabudget Disney Star Wars movie. It almost beggars belief.
>>
>>218180430
gay subtlety is not real. they literally all have stories about meeting a guy and doing meth with him and fucking in the bathroom 2 minutes later
>>
>>218179800
Awful take, S1 just ends in middle of a scene.

S2 is better than S3 though
>>
>>218175401
Gus mentions having kids in Breaking Bad but then they give him the flashback with his "partner" dying and that sparking his entire motivation for revenge. Plus, the cartel call him gay all the time. I think he is supposed to be gay.
>>
>>218175919
The show goes downhill after Chuck died. My friend said he liked it when the mob shit played a central figure to the show, but I much preferred all the lawyer shenanigans over it.
>>
>>218176292
I know it was.there and why Jimmy felt that way. But suddenly it becomes Jimmy and Kim's entire fucking plotline for 2 seasons. It was stupid and made them both into unsympathetic losers.

Calling Gus gay was just an ordinary insult, it wasn't meant to be taken literally. Just like when Gus wants Hector to look at him he doesn't really want him to look at him, he's using it as a symbol for Hector being ready to die. And just like when Walter cooks "meth", the man is very clearly processing MSG but the way it leads to America's obesity epidemic it's "as bad as meth". Like, come on, it's not a show for dummies.
>>
>>218175861
If it's what bcs does, "character development" is when a character doesn't change in any meaningful way before a time-skip in the last couple of episodes where they're suddenly the person they were supposed to become.
>>
>>218175401
Gus was gay in breaking bad.
It’s not new.
>>
>>218179332
>does he get identified by that one asshole who recognized him as Saul?
much worse. Also they recast him (weird for the most memorably acted scene, right?) so you wouldn't reasonably even know that it's him when he shows up again.
>>
>>218175220
these 2 shows are nothing like each other
