There's one carpark in my town that still has these
When they go it's over
I still remember sitting on the side of the road back in 2019 before they replaced them all with LED dogshit and thinking how beautiful the night is

Pretty sure the Swedes started "cold" lights because a study showed they reduced crime or some shit. Reminds me of my childhood summers.

That movie went so hard. When I found out about it I saw the trailer before it was released then found a thread on some random website with people talking about all these creepy scenarios they had with strangers. It was pretty sweet.

I thought about writing le epic dead mall retrofuture 90s/2000s nostalgia movie, that would emulate this sort of aesthetic, about some hacker dude whose oneitis from teenage years is a manic pixie dream girl he had a crush on, and he uses retro tech to sabotage the megacorp that made the drugs that she overdosed on, then he learns she actually didn't die and is in a coma, but when he finally breaks into the facility and rescues her and wakes her up, she is the same as she was 15 years ago, but she's actually a massively annoying consoomer bitch and he realizes his feelings for her were fake and he kills himself and the message is that nostalgia is retarded. But there's be lots of shots of le epic liminal spaces to make it seem more deep. I'd write it jsut as a novel but it's hard to bring across a visual aesthetic in that.

Why can't they just use yellow/amber-tinted LEDs? I'm pretty sure LEDs can come in any color.
>>
>>218180140
>Why can't they just use yellow/amber-tinted LEDs?
Why would they? the intention of streetlights was never le aesthetics but to light up the street. Plain LEDs make everything clearer as well

The thing is, they CAN get leds with the same tone of old bulbs, they just refuse because white leds are 0,01 cents cheaper so fuck your health and coziness. There's a town not too far from where I live which opted for orange leds and they just look like the old thing, but everywhere else you get white leds and slightly warmer but still sucky leds.
>>
>>218182577
Should I write it?
I don't know if it'd be better as a screenplay or a novel.
Either way, it's hard to convey a visual aesthetic in writing. Especially one as subtle as 90s nostalgia.
>>
>>218182893
The funny thing is a part of my town switched to white LEDs, but over the course of only a few years are all slowly breaking. Half of them only show purple light now.

I'll never get the
>it's safer
notion. I'm sure on a scientific level white LED's provide more light at a cheaper cost, but from a purely human level it's brutal going from blinding white light to pitch black. The dim amber glow felt more consistent. You're eyes would adjust and stay adjusted. Now it's constant back and forth. Doesn't seem like it's really that much better even though technically it probably is.
