I watched Memoria play the Silent Hill 2 remake like a year or so ago, and I just watched the trailer for this movie (which is directly based on that game), and the movie is just a worse version of the game, it literally looks worse visually than the video game it's based on.

It's one of those adaptations that are both so rushed and cliff notes-y that you won't have any idea what's going on if you don't like the source material, yet changes a lot of that source materials story for the worse to piss off people who are familiar with it.

Plus, acting, costumes and effects are really poor.

autists that are mad because james doesnt have the correct hair color. they also want a 1:1 recreation of the game when they could just watch the game again (which is all they do as they never play them). movie has a couple of bad things about it sure, it's too short and eddie makes no sense, but the rest is fucking amazing, especially the way it looks. and with the remake they toyed with the idea of remake and original somehow both being part of the same story, like a cycle, and the movie could just be another loop.

Only the first movie was decent, worth a watch, with some a few nice sequences, but we all know the original games, 1 - 4 were already movies. Videogames with narrative structure, cinematic scenes, they were videogames combined with movie. You don't really need to movie-fy them. However, I'd be interested in novelizations of the original games, not novelizations of these shit-in-a-bag call it a day movies, which is every movie made today. They get an army of indians to shit in a bag and call it a movie. What a sick joke.

Basically this anon adressed the main issue: even for someone who knows the plot, between the plot changes to fit with the series' lore and simply bad composition, you have a movie where shit happens just because, including the ending. Silent Hill few citizens around no longer have too much apparent relation to James or Mary, being relegated to part of James delusions instead, so then any attempt to to justify the endgame reveal falls flat. Add the cult appearance into the mix and you get an even bigger mess.
So the movie could have ended with the Aliens or Dog ending and i would have left the cinema less confused than before
