I think this movie deserves more appreciation than it gets. Its so well made
>>
the villain is just a guy in a halloween mask like it's some no budget movie lmao
>>
In real life Jews rape and cannibalize 1,000,000 children a year and the Americans don't revolt against it.
That's fucking spooky.

Agreed. MJ villain wasn't great but the little death scenes were spooky AF. My favorite was the car one
>>
It's pretty generic but the found footage angle works well, the movies look super creepy and that carries it until the Slipknot frontman turns up and it turns from generic into bad.
>>
the first half is genuinely amazing then it kinda turns to shit so all things considered it's adequately rated
>>
>>218187794
Yes they fucked up with Baguul appearance but its still one of the best horror movies. Soundtrack is also creepy
>>
This maybe felt directed by two people, a genius (murder videos) and a hack fraud (the rest).
>>
was this the movie where the dad fights a "tough guy" ghost who wears a leather jacket or was that insidious

>>218187794
How does one manage to fuck up near perfect horror with something as simple as an antagonist reveal and portrayal? Baghuul looked fucking ridiculous.
>>
>>218187794
The idea of the villain being an actual pagan god rather than a bog-standard ghost or monster was a neat one. It's a shame that, as >>218187830 and others have stated, Baghuul is really, really lame. They should have spent more of the budget on making him look, well, godly.

The kid rising from the box was creepy as fuck. Gave me goosebumps
>>
>generic punisher mask villain
>generic watch cursed video plot
>generic haunted suburban house setting
>children inexplicably having access to chloroform and insane bodily strength
>>
>>218187794
>deserves more appreciation than it gets
This is touted as one of most scary movies over the last 20 years. And it's absolutely not.
If anything this deserves less appreciation.
>>
>>218187794
>Oh no! There's a gabaghool in my TV!
>>
>>218188281
Pretty much. I thought the ending where the kid kills the whole family was quite unsettling though
>>

Lord Jimmy in the new 28 years later movie scare me more than slasher villains
>>
>>218189987
>>218190023
Looked creepy in some of the found footage I thought, it’s only when he’s clearly seen that it looks lame. All they needed to do was keep him hidden in the shadows and the film would be overall much better.

it absolutely is. Nothing else worthwhile since the grudge / ring / dark water. Maybe Skinamarink but some people are immune to it
>>

it gets tons of appreciation. Literally everyone rates it highly
>>
ff segments were god tier
>>
>>218187794
The film is very well received both by fans and the critics
>>
>>218190469
Your post had me going and I was going to reply but you absolutely overplayed your hand with Skinamarink.
Decent bait though

Director typed "horror" into flickr and bought the rights to use an image he liked for $500 and credited the photographer. That being said, I really don't mind the design.
>>
Love the part where he calls the demon expert and he's like "Oh yeah sure thats Baghuul the child eater he's gonna take over your child or something lol." Such a lame way for exposition.
>>
>>218187794
Meh, I think it's just another decent horror. It follows is much more underrated.

>you will never be some "demon expert" academic who has some comfy university job where he does nothing but wait for bewildered parents experiencing horror situations to come looking for help
>>
>>218187830
the villain is some guy from Slipknot
>>
the video tapes were genuinely scary at the time
although all i really remember from the movie is that and the weird children dancing around the house at the end
>>
They used the exact same attic jump scare in the second movie
>>
>>218190920
People hate the design because it's a contrast to how amazing the movie is outside of him. Ethan Hawke is next level, the supporting cast are very good, the wife super convincing, it's all shot so well, written tight, full of despair and dread. That's not even touching on the found footage. The opening scene is very 2000s horror trailer, to be honest it's not as much of a strong point for me as it is for most people. The later found footage parts are unbelievable though. Point being, Mr Boogie is just-ok in the midst of all that, so everyone hates him.
>>218191030
I actually do love that part. It's totally shameless but also very efficient. Zero screen time wasted, just one scene and we know who mr boogie is.
>>
>>218187794
That part where Mr.boogie moves his head in that picture got me good.

Scientists literally found out that Sinister is the scariest horror movie of all time, what do you mean its not appreciated?
>>
>>218191419
this has been debunked
>>
>>218187794
Is it not recognized as one of the better horror films ever made? I think it gets enough appreciation, at least among the connaisseurs of the genre.
Kino film. Might watch it again now that I’m thinking about it.
>>
>>218191419
It is cool horror, but the scariest of all time? Come on
>>
>>218191343
for me it's the one where he's in a bush
